Print Kemmannu 20 Nov2011:My first experienceof enjoying folklore sports the water buffalo race Kambla in Kemmannu. Since myarrival from South Africa and Nigeria I have my studies pursued in Little rockhigh school in 9th std, I heard of an event that’s exciting andcould not resist the pleasure on a Sundayholiday .
The ThonseKambala in Kemmannu attracted my attention and we decided to join theprocession of buffaloes in front of Ash-Lish that were led from Allan lewis,Sudeer Lewis and Stan, Santan Lewis house in Thonse Kemmnnu.
In agreeting ceremony at Mudalakatta Mrs Divina Crasto and Mr Leo Crasto greetedthe owners of the participating team owners with garlands and blessings. MrsPushpa Kotian The Kallianpur Panchayat member with neighbourhood members andschool children were present.
The processionwere given a refreshment of butter milk Jaggery and water sponsored by Mr Braan Dsouzaand Fly the members that included President and members of rotary clubKallianpura and people from Gopalpura Santhekatte.
We saw manystalls on venue they were selling novelties sweets ice cream and various kindof eatables one of the attraction was Bole Gireng air potatoes according toaunty.
The Icecandy seller Sanjeevanna with his box laden on bicycle was busy, he told us hisjob of selling candy’s since 51 years made my eye brows raise high. While clarifyingthis one of my uncle said yes he was there for children waiting every day atthe school gate selling ice candy at five paisa for candy and ten paisa for MilkDudh candy we bought some candy’s sipping we felt cool. The traditional Doldrum beating with blowing of whistle and trumpets made the atmosphere ecstatic.People young and old enjoyed the event The Thonse padumane Kambala mainorganiser is appreciated by Kemmannu
