Print Udupi : The social activist, Founder President of Indian Christian Union and Entrepreneur Sunil Cabral (52) of Shirva passed away due to COVID-19 today in the KMC Hospital Manipal.
He was formerly associated with Congress leader Ivan D’Souza ex-MLC along with former Shirva Gram Panchayat President late Conrad Castelino. Both Sunil Cabral and Conrad Castelino defected to BJP last year during the panchayat election. Conrad Castelino elected and Sunil Cabral lost in the panchayat election. Conrad Castelino after winning the election elected president of Shirva Grama Panchayat.However, Conrad Castelino died due to massive heart attack few months back.
Sunil Cabral was well known politician and social worker who earlier one term elected gram panchayat member. But he was lost this time. When he was in Congress rule, he was appointed as director of Karavali Development Authority. After the tragic death of Rev Fr. Mahesh D’Souza, Cabral was strong supporter during the massive protest rally to support to Fr. Mahesh when Cabral was leading person to organize the protest.
Sunil Cabral was President of Rotary Club Shirva and under his leadership celebrated golden jubilee of Rotary Club Shirva. He was well known social worker without bar of caste and religion. He was helped the poor and needy. He was also member of Shirva Parish Pastoral Council. He was good administrative talents and entrepreneur.
Sunil Cabral is survived by his wife Bonita and large number of friends and well wishers.
