Udupi : Goodbye may seem forever, farewell is like the end. But, in our heart is a memory and there you will always be. On Tuesday, June 29, the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur of Udupi diocese along with rector, parish pastoral gurkars’ and finance committee members joined their hands to bid farewell to Rev Fr. Canute Noronha, who was assistant parish priest since three years, with brief farewell programme due to covid pandemic at Parish Priest home meeting hall.

The program began with invocation prayer by Rosy Baretto. Parish Pastoral Council Hon. Secretary Felciana Lewis welcomed the gathering.

Vice president of the parish pastoral council Jeffrey Dias read the citation and spoke with his heart on Fr. Canute Noronha during his presence since three years even though he had burden for the parish in the absence of active participation of then parish priest Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Lawrence D’Souza due to his health.  Jeffrey Dias lauded Fr. Canute’s energetic spirit and was also appreciated for having contributed lot towards the spiritual growth of altar boys and youth as well. He also commended Fr Canute for his enthusiastic participation in all the activities of cathedral. His key role was in the parish with the parishioners as well as others for more three years never forgotten.

Followed by a short felicitation programme was organized and Rev Fr. Canute Noronha was honoured with a shawl by Rector Very Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, a garland by Felciana Lewis and citation memento by Jeffrey Dias.

In his farewell talk, Fr. Canute gave gratitude to Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Fr. Valerian Mendonca, parish pastoral council members, nuns and all concerned faithful of the Cathedral during his presence for three years.  He was transferred from Shirva Church after serving as assistant parish priest for two years. He thankful to all concerned for their love towards him during his mission at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur. He forgetting none in his farewell few words, thanked with emotional to all and asked parishioners’ prayers for his good health and his mission towards God. Due to health reason, Fr. Canute Noronha has been taken long leave with higher authorities of the diocese.

In his brief talk on the programme, Rector Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca appreciated the role of Fr. Canute Noronha for his outstanding services for the mission of God, for the Cathedral and the faithful at large and asked prayers for Fr. Canute Noronha.

Merlyn Martis proposed vote of thanks and Dr. Gerald Pinto compered the programme. Fr. Canute Noronha graced the prayers and blessings for the gathering.
