Udupi : There are several problems in running of BRS Mother and Children Hospital here in Udupi due to previous government mistakes . Even though there is tough time to running of the hospital, we are not allowed to close the hospital, said Raghupathy Bhat, MLA.

In reply to answer during the monthly Udupi City Municipal Council meeting on Saturday, July 31, Raghupathy Bhat said that the maintenance, salary and other expenses to run the hospital presently has been huge and very difficult for the government. However, there are 14 doctors giving their services in the hospital. We have conducted the meetings with the government officials in regard to the hospital. We will also organize the meeting with the chief minister to make proper solution to run the hospital. We don’t allow the closure of hospital any cost, he said..

As per the reports in several news dailies on water filled in the proposed multi hospital building foundation place which is around 40 feet deeper, it has been decided a resolution in the CMC meeting that within 15 days, the huge deeper place should be filled and whatever expenses should borne by the BRS institution. The said expenses should be payable to CMC. The CMC official Mohanraj said that the municipality had given three notices to the BRS institution to closure of proposed building foundation place.  He warned the institution that if any unscientific work done by the BRS institution, the expenses shall borne by the BRS institution, he said.

In reply to opposition leader Ramesh Kanchan on spreading petty shops in streets of the city, Sumithra R. Nayak President of CMC said that within one week all illegal petty shops in various streets of the city should be removed with the help of police protection.

The councilor Vijay Kodavoor said that the fast food units and fruits vendors using chemicals on the food items which have been served and selling to the people. The mixture of chemicals on the food items will be dangerous for the health. The CMC officials should take action on those vendors of fruits and fast food units. In reply to CMC officials said that they will collect the samples of food items and fruits to the laboratory and will take action on the defaulters.

CMC vice president Laxmi Manjunath, CMC commissioner Dr. Uday Kumar Shetty and CMC officials were present during the meeting.
