Udupi : Veer Savarkar was the great freedom fighter. Those who do not know about Veer Savarkar, should learn the history of the country, said Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of state for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India.

Addressing a press meet at Karthik Hotel, Ambalpady near here on Thursday, August 19, and the minister said that there is no need to make anti-Savarkar issues. Those who speak without any knowledge of history of country are speaking against Savarkar and these people are anti-nationals, she said.  

In regard to media persons query on NIA unit at Mangaluru, Shobha Karandlaje said that Dakshina Kannada district is a most sensitive place. There is need to establish a National Investigating Agency (NIA) unit at Mangaluru.

She said that Narendra Modi is working near about 19 hours for the country and no earlier prime minister had done like that. He do not have more assets but some suitcases of his dress materials. Under the leadership of Modi, he is leading the meeting of the World Health Organization today. Due to Manmohan Singh, the country was dishonored, but  Modi and the country gets honour from the world leaders.

She also praised the work done by the Narendra Modi in order to achieve the control the corona pandemic. India has been largest country in the world in corona vaccines production. India is exporting vary large corona vaccines to the world and hence, today world honors the country, she said.

As far as my ministry point of view, more than 70% of the people depend only on agriculture in the country. Prime minister has started various schemes for the development of agriculture and for the first time in the country 305 million metric tons of pulses and 326 million metric tons of vegetables have been produced. We have excess quantity of pulses in the country. In order to benefit small farmers and medium land farmers, prime minister has introduced various schemes for these farmers, she said.
