Udupi : Polytechnic education ensures that students can gain employment and benefit from the increasing number of students attending polytechnic colleges, said Dr. Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Higher Education, Skills Development, Industry and Livelihood, Electronic IT & BT Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the new Government Polytechnic College at Belupu on Saturday, September 25, at a cost of Rs 8 crore.

Courses adopted in the 21st Century of Polytechnic Colleges in the State, before the adoption of these courses were discussed with the Heads of Industry and Industrial Technicians, modified and re-prepared for the use of technology in the future. Whole syllabus modified with the intention to use of technology which would be the first state in the country, minister said.

He said that the new national education policy is a multi-entry - multi-exit model of polytechnic education, designed to provide a one-year, 2-year and 3-year course of education to international and country standards.

To improve the quality of learning in the state’s polytechnic colleges, the Comprehensive Learning Management System, the Internet enabled smart class for all classrooms and the tab for students will be fully digitalized, he said.

The Science Center, which is under construction in Balapu, will be inaugurated in March 2022 and a Postgraduate Science Center will be opened here, he said.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje said, "Students are only getting admission in multi-demanding courses and such courses to be started in Belapu. She said that as per the new education policy, the students were given greater freedom to provide the required education.

Kaup MLA, Lalaji Mendon, said that the Polytechnic College will be provided with basic infrastructure facilities and road connectivity and transportation. He also said that the Science Center at Belapu will be opened soon and the center will be a center for the education sector.

Minister for Social Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Coastal Development Authority Chairperson Mattaru Ratnakara Hegde, Belpu Grama Panchayat Chairperson Shobha B Bhat, Retired Principal Ganapathi and others were also present.

Sunil Kumar Shetty, lecturer at Kapu Polytechnic College welcomed the audience. Polytechnic special officer Manjunath Prasad spoke key note address.
