Lonavala Municipal Council is Consistent best performing city in Swachh Survekshan
Mumbai (RPI), Nov.24: Lonavala Municipal Council is Consistent best performing city in swachh survekshan from last 4 years. Lonavala grabs the 2nd National Prize in Swachh Survekshan 2021 (under the National Clean Surveillance Campaign) Lonavala is very popular tourist place in Maharashtra. The population of the city is around 60000 and the floating population is 25000 per day and in the rainy and winter season it goes to around 100000.
The Swachh Survekshan 2021 award was presented to Lonavla Municipal Council in the presence of Hon. President of India Ramnath Kovind and Union Minister for Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on Saturday 20th Nov 2021.
The Award was received by Lonavala Mayor Smt. Surekha Jadhav, Former Deputy Mayor & Current Councillor Shri.Shridhar Poojary, Current Chief Officer Somnath Jadhav, Chief Officer Ravi Pawar. Apart from this, the city of Lonavla also received a 3 star rating in the category of waste free city and a special award was given by the Secretary, Urban Development Department, Mr. Durga Shankar Prasad.
The major areas of work for Lonavala Municipal Council includes Waste Segregation, 100% Waste Collection. The wet waste is processed for bio gas plant which generates electricity and powers all the street lights of SWM plant. Every Week LMC conducts cleanliness drives in the city at different location and the citizens and NGOs take participation in those drives. LMC also organized IEC activities and Capacity building programmes for waste segregation, 3 R principles, on site waste practicing, citizens role in swachhta etc. LMC has completed desludging of all the septic tanks in the city.
The transforming and visionary success credit goes to all the Elected members, Municipal Staff, Administration and citizens who worked hand in hand. Lonavla Municipal Council President and Chief Officer thanked all the Citizens, authorities and administration for this enduring success.
