Veteran Stage actor from Barkur honoured by ‘Sumanasa Kodavooru’ in Udupi.

Udupi, March 24, 2022: Shri STANY PAIS was honoured by ‘Sumanasa Kodavooru’ in Udupi.

It was a day for genuine joy for all of us, theatre artists hailing from this historical town Barkur and surrounding, as one of its celebrated artist was handpicked by the organisers of SUMANASA to recognise, appreciate and remember the contribution of Stany Pais to drama, folklore and culture. As a mark of crossing the milestone of completing 20 YEARS its manifold services to the society at large, the popular platform of likeminded - socially and culturally concerned people from Kodavooru and surrounding, irrespective of caste, language religion or region, has organised TEN days of festival, ‘Ranga- Habba’ national level multi lingual plays for ten consecutive days, with assorted variety of unique programme, specially dramas near the Bhujanga Park, Udupi.

On 23rd March, there was a Konkani Play ‘Mitrachi Kanni’ by team Panaji, Goa, a new wave play, which was witnessed by a fairly large spectators and art lovers.

During the stage programme, the team SUMANASA exhibited a led presentation highlighting heydays of Stany Pais will snaps and stills from plays like – Tippu Sultan, Dr Sarojamma, Rogtachi Zalin Dukan etc in 1970 – 90. He was presented with traditional shawl, memento as a mark of respect to his manifold services to contemporary society – leadership in Rotary, Catholic Sabha, SVP, St Peters Association, Village Panchayat member during his heydays and thereafter……

In his reply to this special honour Mr Pais was very emotional to express his views on today’s state of affairs vis a vis once most popular art form of drama. He regretted either we as performers failed or social media, mobiles TV grabbed the space….? It’s time to introspect and reactivate the passion for theatre performances…..He lauded the untiring efforts of Sumanasa, which endlessly plan and present variety programmes in the heart of Udupi city every year deserve our salute and gratitude’s he stressed…..
