Kallianpur Deanery celebrates, ‘Catholic Sabah Day - 2022’ with dignity and gratefulness…

On Sunday, 24th April, 2022, at 3.30 pm, the Mount Rosary Church Mini Hall was near to its capacity as the Catholic Sabah office bearers from all the Nine Parishes, Sasthan, Barkur, Brahmmavar, Petri, Kollalgiri, Thottam, Kemmannu, Milagres Kallianpur Cathedral assembled at Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte in large number to rejoice and celebrate ‘CS DAY – 2O22’.

After invoking Almighty Lords blessings, immediate past President of the Varado (and President designate Udupi Pradesh) Mr Santhosh Carnelio, welcomed the special guests and dignitaries from various parishes. Rev Fr Gerald Sandeep DMello, former Vicar, Nirmala Padavu, now the resident priest at Mount Rosary, a known and an ardent supporter of Catholic Sabah, was the Chief Guest.
Once all the guests and Varado Office bearers 2021-22, occupied the dais, they were presented with fresh roses as a mark of our love and respect. The Gen. Secretary Mrs Celine Colaco, Thottam, read out the crispy and informative Annual Report of the CS Kallianpur Varado and the same was approved.

The Treasurer of the CS Varado, Mr. G Urban Lewis, Brahmmavar presented the annual audited accounts 2020-21 and Receipts and Payments for the period ending 31st March, 2022, to the gathering and the same was accepted and recorded in the proceedings.
Mrs Rosy Baretto, who served as President for two consecutive terms tabled the draft Deanery level Plan and Projects for the forthcoming year 2022 – 23 with necessary financial allocation / budget proposals by the Treasurer, which too was endorsed by the members present on this occasion.

On this glorious occasion of’ CS Day, 2022’, Mr Arun Fernandes, Kemmannu, who was elected to the prestigious post of Vice President was honoured with traditional shawl, fruits and bouquet on behalf the Kallianpur Varado. His brief profile was presented by Mr Louis DSouza and in his humble reply Arun acknowledged the role Catholic Sabah in his life in general and sharpening leadership qualities in particular over the years……

The proud recipients’ of Prizes in Late Denis DSilva Memorial Essay competitions, at Varado level Smitha Danty Thottam parish and Shanroy Dias Milagres – Kallianpur, were gifted with cash prizes. The former Presidents of the Varado and Udupi Region in Mr Valerian Fernandes, Mr Steevan Prakash Lewis and Mr Santhosh Carnelio too were recognised for their yeomen services to CS.

Soon after the formal handing over of the posts, positions and responsibilities took place as Mr Louis DSouza, Sasthan took charge as new Varado President of the Catholic Sabah with the thunderous round of applause by the audience. Other office bearers too followed the suit to take charge from their respective predecessors.

Prior to the  handing over of the responsibilities, the outgoing President Mrs Rosy Baretto, thanked everyone who extended best cooperation and support to discharge her as well as her team’s responsibilities and wished all the very best to the incumbent team and assured her services in days to come.

The Chief Guest Rev Fr Gerald S DMello extended the CS Days special compliments to each and everyone present on behalf of Dean & Spiritual Director V. Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca and Vicar of Mount Rosary Church Rev Dr Leslie C DSouza, to all the delegates present. He specially called back the unique significance of Kallianpur deanery and  while referring the activities conducted during last year he expressed his satisfaction,” though half of the year was reeling under the havoc and threat of Corona, Catholic Sabah was not confined to inside the four walls but offered its services to the needy……Let this spirit of service continue with the principles of truth, service and unity and hoped the new President and Office bearers  will take the organisation to the next level of prominence and close to the real needy in the society…..”

Mrs Celine Colaco the outgoing Secretary of the CS Kallianpur Deanery thanked everyone who made this simple but meaningful celebration a grand success.

Soon after the General body Meeting, the new President Mr Louis DSouza led the first formal Monthly Meeting, April 2022.

In the beginning snacks and Tea was served to all present and the whole proceedings aptly handled by the newly elected Secretary Catholic Sabah, Kallinapur Varado, Mr Archibald Furtado.
