Udupi : Catholic Sabha Milagres Cathedral unit along with Milagres Pastoral Environment Commission and Lions Club Kallianpur observed Vanamahotsava at Milagres Cathedral Campus here on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Milagres Cathedral Rector Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca inaugurated the Vanamahotsava by symbolically planting a sapling at Cathedral campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Valerian Mendonca said that we are trying to bring awareness of eco-friendliness among us by planting saplings and we can beautify the surroundings and increase greenery as Pope Francis desired to be in his call to the world. To create awareness on environment protection, these programmes observed by Catholic Sabha, Environment commission of the parish and Lions Club will be appreciated. Everybody should take care to maintain nature’s equilibrium and it is necessary for everybody to introspect.

The Zonal Second Governor of Lions Club, Ln Dr Nerry Cornelio and others spoke during the occasion. Catholic Sabha Milagres unit President suggested that everybody plant saplings in the company of family at their respective residences area and take care of them instead of having observations here today. Those who takes care maximum saplings of plantations will be awarded at the end of year as per the central leadership of Catholic Sabha.

Catholic Sabha unit officials and members, Parish Environment Commission Convener Gilbert Cornelio, Former Presidents of Catholic Sabha Central unit Dr. Gerald Pinto and Walter Cyril Pinto, Lions Club Kallianpur unit President Ln Jerome Lewis, Secretary George D’Souza and former Presidents and officials of Lions Club, Kallianpur, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council Jefry Dias and secretary Felciana Lewis and parishioners were present.

Stany Rodrigues welcomed and compered the programme. Saplings of plants were distributed to large number of people gathered.
