Udupi, December 7: Udupi district has been ranked first in the state in the cleanliness of rural areas, and the role of sanitation workers in the rural areas of the district is very important in achieving this position, said District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H.
He spoke today on behalf of Zilla Panchayat and Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Udupi while inaugurating the Swachh Bhraram- Cleanliness Workers’ Games held at Ajjarakadu Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium.
Cleanliness and health are closely related, the rural sanitation workers are working well in maintaining the health of the public in the rural areas and have created a new concept among the public about cleanliness. He said that a review is being conducted regarding their necessary demands and the provision of health insurance facilities including accident insurance.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Planning Officer Srinivasa Rao, who received the State-level Sarvottam Seva award, was felicitated.
Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty was present.
Madhavi welcomed the gathering and Raghuram compared the programme.
