Attur, Karkala : “Worldly experiences such as hardships and evils make us tremble. By the grace of pious souls, we will be blessed when we overcome them and live as his witnesses with unshakable faith in God and do good," said in his homily during the third day of St Lawrence Basilica, Shrine annual feast by Dr. Dr. Lawrence Mukuzi, Bishop of Belthangadi Diocese.

On Tuesday, the third day of the annual festival that began on January 22, the number of devotees visiting the shrine increased significantly. Special puja prayers were performed for the sick.

The only important Eucharistic Holy mass offering of the day was by the Bishop of Belthangadi Diocese, His Holiness Most Rev Dr Lawrence Mukuzi.

Very Rev Fr Maxim Noronha, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese offered the 10 am Solemn Eucharistic mass. Other Eucharistic masses of the day were Rev Fr Alvin Sequeira, Katkere; Rev Fr. Viresh Moras, Shimoga; Rev Fr Tomas Roshan D’Souza, Gangolly and  Rev Fr. Andrew D’Souza, Bondel.

The third day of the festival concluded with the final Eucharistic mass of the day performed by Rev Fr. Victor DiMello, Paneer.

Former MLAs Shri Abhayachandra Jain and Shri Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the shrine and received the blessings of Saint Lawrence.

On the fourth day of the annual feast the Eucharistic celebrations will be performed at 8, 10, 12 in the morning and 2, 4, 6 and 8 in the afternoon on Wednesday. The Holy mass at 12 noon will be in Kannada language and the special ceremonial Solemn High mass at 10 o’clock will be conducted by the retired Bishop of Mangalore Diocese  Most Rev Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza will officiate and preach.
