Manipal, 26^th January 2023: Manipal Academy of Higher Education celebrated its 74^th Republic Day on 26^th January 2023 from 9 AM onwards. The event was held at KMC Greens to commemorate the implementation of the Constitution through spectacular pageantry of parade and eloquent addressment. Nineteen institutions were led by their contingent commander and were guided by their faculty coordinator participated in the celebration. The celebration witnessed over 4000 audiences including the students of all the institutions.

The program began with the welcome address followed by unfurling the National flag by the Pro-Chancellor Dr. H S Ballal followed by National anthem. The celebration doubled when Habitants of Asare, a trusted abode for the mentally challenged citizens in MAHE, were special participants in this for parade and salutation. Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor of Technology and Sciences delivered the Republic Day message. The entire event was conducted by Dr. Chiranjay Mukhopadhyay, Director of Manipal Institute of Virology.

Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor of Technology and Sciences, MAHE, Manipal has delivered the Republic Day Message; he mentioned that ‘the initiative of the present government are quite promising for better future of India, as India has gone through several ups and downs over last seven decades. India is now among the biggest economics of the world with GDP sitting close to Rs. 150 lakh crore. India is quietly laying claim in the economic superpower status and can very well be third in rank by 2030. He also mentioned that India has ranked among top importers of defence equipment to gain technical advantages over rival countries in next five years.’ While describing the role of MAHE in Healthcare and education, he mentioned that ‘MAHE has produced many global and national leaders in various fields, who are contributing to the growth of the nation’.

Vice chancellor, Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Dr. Sharath Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences, Dr. P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar, heads of Institutions and senior officials of MAHE, were present in the occasion.

Health sciences institutions like Kasturba Medical College,  Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal School of Nursing, Manipal College of Health Professionals, Science and Research institutions like Manipal School of Life Sciences, International Center for Applied Sciences, Technical Science institutions like Manipal Institution of Technology, Management institutions like T A Pai Management Institute, Manipal Institute of Management, and other reputed institutions like Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Department of Commerce took part in this celebration with full galore and pride.

After the gallant parade of the contingents from across 19 institutions, the best three contingents were awarded. The contingent of Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal bagged the 1^st best contingent. Kasturba Medical College, Manipal was awarded the 2^nd best contingent and Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) was awarded the 3^rd best contingent. The celebration ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anitha J, Assistant Professor, MIV, Manipal and the distribution of sweets. The event was also broadcasted live for all to witness the ceremony. Manipal Academy of Higher Education as an Institution of Eminence celebrates every National event with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The event was celebrated respectfully promising to keep MAHE’s pride and love for our country as strong as ever.
