Hoode: Four youths from the same family drowned near Kukkude.

Yesterday evening (Sunday 23-04-2023), four youths from Hooda, near Udupi, drowned at river Swarna near island called Kukkude Kudru. It is gathered from the sources that yesterday evening a cyclonic type of wind was blowing  and the flow of water in the river was turbulent due to the typhoon-like winds. The calm river was full of waves and the tide was high. Also, there was an uneven pitted area due to sand removal from the waterlogged area. Due to all these reasons, the youths who were drowned had to meet a tragic end.

Four of the seven youths of the same family who were on a boat trip were drowned. The dead bodies of three of those four people were recovered last night. But the search continued for the dead body which was not found among them. The dead body of the youth was found around 5:30 am today and was picked up. All the dead bodies have been kept at the Udupi Government Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

The dead body found today is that of Farhan (16). In Hoode, the deceased youths had large number of relatives and the entire  Hoode is in grief.

A prayer that God blesses the bereaved family with strength to bear the grief.

Udupi: 4 Hoode based youths died as country-boat capsizes in Kukkude.

EID-UL-Fitr celebration for a group of 7 youths from Hoode, Kemmannu ended in a tragedy as the country boat in which they were going from Kukkeri Kudru in Hoode to Kukkude to collect Calms capsized and 4 got drowned at river swarna near Kukkude.

As per the confirmed sources out of 7 friends who fell into the water 4 died. The deceased are known as Faizan, Ebad and their relatives from Thirthahalli who visited their relatives in Hoode, Kemmannu to celebrate EID. 3 youths were able to swim across the shore and got survived.

Locals who heard the screams of the survived youths rendered all the necessary support, 3 bodies were recovered and the search is on for the 4th person.

Ambulance services and local police arrived at the spot and the investigations are on.
