Print Manipal, 26th May 2023: Kasturba Medical College and Hospital Manipal in association with District Health and Family Welfare Department Udupi and District Blindness Control Society Udupi District organized a one-day workshop for Government Community Health Officers who working in Health and Wellness Centres. The workshop imparted education on eye and related diseases and the blindness control program.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Nagabhushan Udupa spoke at the inauguration of this program which was held at the Interact Hall in MAHE Manipal today. We are conducting this program in collaboration with Kasturba Hospital Manipal as part of the Netra Pradhan program in the entire state for the first time. He hoped that the program should become a model for the entire state, through which everyone with a child born would be free from blindness. He congratulated the Kasturba Hospital for supporting this program.
In his Presedntial address Dr Padmaraj Hegde, Dean KMC said that, Now we are in the age of computers and technology. From small children, everyone is suffering from eye problems due to mobile phones and television. By showing it to the doctor at the right time and getting treatment, the problem can be solved completely. And also he said that we will support and cooperate with all the programs of the district health department
Dr Latha Nayak, District Blindness officer said that, through this training program, all diseases related to the eye will be detected in the villages and help to get treatment at the right time.

Dr Ashwini Kumar Gopadi, Professor and Head, the Department of Community Medicine welcomed the gathering and Dr Yogish Kamath Ophthalmology Professor and Head Department of Ophthalmology proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Neetha KIR, Associate Professor, Dr Sushan Shetty, Assistant Professor and Dr Rashmi K Assistant Department of Ophthalmology Kasturba Hospital Manipal participated as resource persons.
About 250 Community Health Officers working in the Health and Wellness Centers of Udupi Jelle participated and benefited. Dr Shruti was the Master of Ceremony for the program
