Udupi : BJP’s politics of hatred has burnt Manipur for over 89 days leaving more than a hundred people dead. The Prime Minister has failed Manipur, failed India and is completely silent. The violence in Manipur is a riot completely sponsored by BJP. There must be a need to end this cycle of violence and restore peace, said Media Analyst Shiv Sundar.

Addressing the protesters at the massive rally held by “Samana Manaskara Vedike” (Like Minded Forum of Udupi ) Shiv Sundar, prominent speaker of the rally said how the prime minister and BJP sponsored the violence in Manipur. It was the preplanned violence created by the Prime Minister and BJP as Narendra Modi was doing in Gujarat when he was the chief minister of Gujarat. No doubt that it is the duty of the government both Union and State to protect all people without any caste and tribes. Shiv Sundar briefed the relation between the two communities Meitei and Kuki who lived peacefully prior to the violence and how systematically planned the state wide violence between two tribal communities in Manipur. This violence created enmity and hostility. The violence in Manipur is not accidental. It has been clearly the politics of enmity with minorities. Hindu communities sowed seeds of enmity in the Meitei community against the Kuki community he said.

Shiv Sundar has alleged that the chief minister of Manipur Biren Singh is one of the biggest drug mafia. After the BJP came to power, more than 2000 people were arrested by the drug mafia and out of that large population the Meitei community indulged in the drug mafia.

Shiv Sundar also alleged that the Union government, state government, police and whole system were directly involved in massive violence. How can civilians establish bunkers, how can these communities find large arsenals and guns. Unless there is no support for the whole system of the state, it cannot be possible for massive violence which is yet to be finished.

He said that the state government has failed in bringing the situation under control. The Modi government also turned a blind eye to demands from various corners for taking effective steps to stop the violence in the northeast state of Manipur.

On behalf of women gathered in large numbers, Janet Barboza of Mudarangadi, social worker and former President of Diocesan Women’s Association speaks out against violence in Manipur during the protest meet led by like-minded forum in Udupi. Indeed in our country, there is no safety for women. The mob of Meitei community being paraded as a Kuki woman naked, went viral which was shameless to the country and the prime minister of India. What slogan will the prime minister announce now? The slogan of Prime Minister Manki Baat made people of India monkeys, but he never heard the dil ki baat of the Manipur women. The prime minister has been totally silent on the violence on women at large in Manipur. She said that the Prime Minister’s slogan on women that along with Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Beti Jalao also took place in Manipur as the final stage. She severely criticized the Modi government and Biren Singh government of Manipul against the massive violence on women.

Janet said that Narendra Modi doesn’t forget that Bharat Mata ki Jai is Bharat Mata, Modi was born in Bharat Mata. We are all women and Bharat Mata people, she said. Janet said that no national media has been very serious about the Manipur violence. She blamed the paid media to support the BJP in the terror of Manipur violence. The media is completely silent on the serious issue which has been questionable.

Earlier, prominent social activist and educationalist Prof. Paniraj gave introductory remarks on Manipur Violence. This Manipur Violence is the product of BJP and Sangh Parivar. He briefed how the violence organized by the so-called fascism people to terrorize minorities similar to Gujarat during Narendra Modi while he was chief minister. Same kind of violence planned in Manipur against the minority Kuki communities. The narrative seemed to be aimed at justifying the use of state forces to aid the radicalized Meitei tribals in attacking and burning down Kuki settlements in foothills surrounding Imphal valley, beyond which it doesn’t seem to hold much water. Proof of state complicity can clearly be discerned from the fact that what started out as a purely ethnic-communal violence was later on attempted to be portrayed by the chief minister as the state’s war on narco terrorists. CM Biren Singh who enjoyed majority support in the state is also a part of the Meitei community. Prof Paniraj said that the violence was perpetrated by the valley-majority Meitei community and was tacitly supported by the BJP run state government under the support of the Union government. Prof Paniran welcomed the massive gathering.

Earlier the massive foot procession began from Mother of Sorrow Church, passed through Chitaranjan Circle, Service bus stand, KM Road, Old Dians Circle and terminated at Christian High School grounds with more than 6000 like- minded people with majority of women. The like-minded people forum proposed a memorandum to be presented to the President of India. The memorandum read out by Fr. Denis D’Sa.

The Convener of the protest Prashanth Jathanna delivered vote of thanks. The various Associations leaders like Yashin Malpe, Vinay Kumar Sorake,  Ramesh Kanchan, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Bishop Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Chancellor of Udupi diocese Very Rev Fr. Roshan D’Souza, Vicar General Mnsgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Prasad Raj Kanchan, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Veronica Cornelio, Dr. Suneetha Shetty, Roshni Oliveira, Sundar Master, Louis Lobo, Ronald Almeida, Roman Catholic and Syrian Catholic priests, nuns, various association leaders and more than 6000 people gathered during the rally and protest meet till end. There were lot of placards displaced during the rally that, We say no to tribal ethnic cleansing, We believe in Equality and Fraternity, I am a proud citizen of India, Tribals of Manipur are all Indians, Stop atrocities against tribals and minorities in Manipur, We have the right to profess and propagate our faith, Kuks are Indians, not illegal migrants, Provide Justice to to Tribals in Manipur, Peace be in Manipur, We condemn the atrocities on peace loving Christians, Land is life, do  not displace Tribals etc. etc.
