Udupi : Udupi District Coconut Growers Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Ltd.,(Udupi Zilla Tengu Belegarara Vividhyosha Sahakari Sangha Niyamitha) inaugurated the Society Store at Olops Enclave, near Goretti Hospital, Kallianpur near here on Thursday, August 24.

The society sales outlet was inaugurated by founder member, Director and agriculturist John B Lewis Kemmannu by cutting the ribbon.

Baptist Dias, Agriculturist and member of Kallianpur Gram Panchayat gave information on how to manage coconut plantations. He said that due to low price of coconut, the coconut farmers are in financial distress and in difficulty. The farmers facing the fear that the coastal coconut plantations will be destroyed and coastal land will become barren in the future. Farmers opined that the government needs to wake up and implement support price or other schemes which helpful to the coconut growers.

Dr. Dhananjay, Senior Agricultural Scientist, Brahmavara was addressed the farmers and advised them to adopt other mixed crops and advised that other product units should be grown.

Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari, Director of Udupi Horticulture Department said that Our Udupi district is an important coastal area for coconut cultivation with 20900 hectares of coconut cultivation. It is a natural contribution of nature to protect the environment. The idea and message was please don’t neglect the coconut plantations.

For the last few years thousands of acres of coconut plantations are neglected because coconuts are not priced! Reasons for this are:

Crop destruction by rats and bats, recently rising prices of fertilizers, at present the labor cost of 800 rupees per worker is very difficult and impossible.

Unlike Kerala, Karnataka does not have factories for manufacturing coconut products such as coconut fiber, coconut virgin oil, lime water, bottled water, and ice cream.

Declining Soil Fertility Much of the fertile soil in our coastal riverine plantations has been washed away by rain and into the river. The depth of the rivers has increased due to the unprecedented over-sanding and the soil of the plantations is being eroded and entering the river. According to the elders, the coconut trees on our coast are only for shade and moon, and there is no income coming from the coconut plantations. Doubts that the beauty of coconut plantations will remain for the future generation? There is no doubt that the environment is out of balance!

ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ತೆಂಗು ಬೆಳೆಗಾರರ ವಿವಿಧೋದ್ದೇಶ ಸಹಕರಿ ಸಂಘ ನಿಯಮಿತ ಇವರ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಳಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಓಲೋಪ್ಸ್ ಎನ್ಕ್ಲೇವ್ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ್ಪುರದ ಗೊರಟಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದು ತಾರೀಕು 24 ಅಗಸ್ತ 23ನೇ ಗುರುವಾರ ಸಮಯ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 10.30 ಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಮ್ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಜಾನ್ ಬಿ. ಲೂಯಿಸ್ ಅವರಿಂದ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಈ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗ್ಗದ ಬೆಲೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬಗೆಯ, ತೆಂಗಿನ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಖರೀದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾರಾಟ, ಕೃಷಿ ಪರಿಕರಗಳು, ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ಹಾಗೂ ಯಂತ್ರೋಪಕರಣಗಳು ಲಭ್ಯವಿದ್ದು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ್ಪುರ ಮೂಡುತೋನ್ಸೆ, ಕೆಮ್ಮಣ್ಣು ಪಡುತೋನ್ಸೆ, ಉಪ್ಪುರು ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಕೃಷಿಕರಿಗೆ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಅನುಕೂಲಕರವಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಮಾಜಿ ತೊನ್ಸೆ ಪಂಚಾಯತು ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಕ್ರಷ್ಣ ಇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

ವೇದಿಕೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಲಾದ ಗಣ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಿಂದ ತೆಂಗು ಬೆಳೆ ಕಲ್ಪವೃಕ್ಷದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗುವಂತಹ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಬ್ಯಾಪ್ಟಿಸ್ಟ್ ಡಯಾಸ್ ಇವರು ತೆಂಗಿನ ತೋಟಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ತಂಗಿಗೆ ಬೆಲೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ, ಕರಾವಳಿ ರೈತರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಕರಾವಳಿ ರೈತರ ಅಳಲು!

ತೆಂಗು ಬೆಳೆಗೆ ತಗಲುವ ವೆಚ್ಚದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕಳಕಳಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರೈತರು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ತೆಂಗಿನ ತೋಟಗಳು ನಶಿಸುವ, ಕರಾವಳಿ ಭೂ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಬರಡು ಬಂಜಾರಾಗುವ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸರಕಾರವು ಎಚ್ಚೆತ್ತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ತಂಗಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಬೆಲೆ ಅಥವಾ ಇತರ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ರೈತರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ.

ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದ ಕೃಷಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಡಾ. ಧನಂಜಯ್ ರೈತರನ್ನು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ ಇತರ ಮಿಶ್ರ ಬೆಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸುವ ಸಲಹೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಘಟಕಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

20900 ಹೆಕ್ಟೇರು ತೆಂಗಿನ ಬೆಳೆ ಇರುವ ಈ ನಮ್ಮ ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯು ತೆಂಗು ಬೆಳೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಪರಿಸರವನ್ನು ಸೌರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಆಗಿದೆ. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ತೆಂಗಿನ ತೋಟಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಡಿ ಎಂಬ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂದೇಶವು ಆಗಿತ್ತು.

ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ
ತೆಂಗಿಗೆ ಬೆಲೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಎಕರೆ ತೆಂಗಿನ ತೋಟಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ! ಇದರ ಕಾರಣಗಳಾದ:
ಇಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಾವಲಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆಳೆ ನಾಶ,
ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಏರುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗೊಬ್ಬರಗಳ ಬೆಲೆ,
ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ 800 ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರಿಗೆ ಕೂಲಿ ವೆಚ್ಚ ತುಂಬಾ ಕಷ್ಟ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಕೇರಳದಂತೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯಿಯ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ತೆಂಗಿನ ನಾರು, ತೆಂಗಿನ ವರ್ಜಿನ ಎಣ್ಣೆ, ಕಲ್ಪಾರಸ ನೀರ, ಎಳನೀರು ಬಾಟಲಿ, ಹಾಗೂ ಐಸ್ ಕ್ರೀಮ್, ತೆಂಗಿನ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳು ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ಘಟಕಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲ,

ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಫಲವತ್ತತೆ ಕುಸಿಯುತ್ತಿದೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ನದಿ ತೀರದ ತೋಟಗಳ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಫಲವತ್ತಾದ ಮಣ್ಣು ಮಳೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕೊಚ್ಚಿ ಸವೆದು ನದಿಗೆ ಸೇರುತಿದೆ. ಅನಾದಿಕೃತ ಮಿತಿಮೀರಿದ ಮರಳುಗಾರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ನದಿಗಳ ಆಳ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದು ತೋಟಗಳ ಮಣ್ಣು ಸವೆದು ನದಿಗೆ ಸೇರುತ್ತಾ ಇದೆ. ಹಿರಿಯರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ತೆಂಗಿನ ಮರಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಕರಾವಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದು ನೆರಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ತೆಂಗಿನ ತೋಟಗಳಿಂದ ಯಾವುದೇ ಆದಾಯವು ಬರುತ್ತಾ ಇಲ್ಲ . ಮುಂದಿನ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಜನಾಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಂಗಿನ ತೋಟಗಳ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಉಳಿಯುವುದೇ ಎಂಬ ಸಂಶಯ ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ?

ಪರಿಸರದ ಸಮತೋಲನ ತಪ್ಪುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಶಯವಿಲ್ಲ!
