Kemmannu : People are confidence in cooperative societies, Ganapathy Cooperative Agricultural Society moving through confidence of the people since hundred years which accelerates the growth of the society, said Indrali Jayakar Shetty, President of District Cooperative Union, Udupi and Director of Karnataka State Cooperatives Mahamandal, Bengaluru.

After inaugurating the “Sathabhinandanum” opening of centenary celebrations of Ganapathy Cooperative Agricultural Society at Kemmannu on Thursday, November 16, Indrali Jayakar Shetty said that since one hundred years, large number of people responsible for the success of the society and we must give credit and gratitude to all. The purpose of a cooperative is to realize the economic, cultural and social needs of the people. Cooperatives often have a strong commitment to their community and a focus on strengthening the community they exist in or serve.

He said that as a cooperative society it works mostly for the benefit of poor and weaker sections of the society. He called to organize social programmes, so that the people’s confidence will increase. Indrali Jayakar Shetty appreciated the society that since its establishment, the boards of directors are open to all communities irrespective of their religion, gender and caste. Cooperation requires recognizing the value of everyone’s part and keeping a positive attitude. One who cooperates creates good wishes and pure feelings for others and the task.

Ikalabava Devi Prasad Shetty, Director of Dakshina Kannada Center Cooperative Bank, Mangaluru and Director of Karnataka State Cooperative Trade Mahamandala, Bengaluru, Prasadraj Kanchan, Entrepreneur, Sarala Kanchan, Senior Politician and social worker, Dr. Mohamed Rafiq, Director of Beach Healing Home, Hoode, Kusuma Ravindra President of Thonse Gram Panchayat and Arun Kumar S V, Assistant deputy director, Kundapur were spoken during the occasion.

The centenary Emblem was unveiled during the occasion by the guests on the dais. T. Sathish Shetty, President of the Ganapathy Cooperative Agricultural Society presided over the programme.

Earlier, T. Sathish Shetty, welcomed the gathering and gave the keynote address. Presently there is Rs. 95 crore deposit in the society and needs a deposit of one hundred crore at the end of this year and he hopes it will fulfill the deposit of one hundred crore in the society on the centenary celebrations.

Ashok Kumar Shetty Murmady, Karje, President of Udupi Taluk Agricultural Produce Cooperatives Trade Society, Yashoda Acharya President of Badanidiyoor Gram Panchayat, Nagaraj Kundar President of Kallianpur Gram Panchayat, Shobha D Nayak President of Tenkanidiyur Grama Panachayat, B Afjal Saheb Vice President of Ganapathy Society, Mahesh Salian CEO of the Society, P Madhav Rao Padukudru and others were present on the dais.

Mahesh Salian proposed a vote of thanks and Sreedhar V S compared the programme. On the occasion of the opening of centenary celebrations, the chief guests released colourful balloons to the air.

Meanwhile the programme culminated with honoring centenarian Christine Andrade, Padukudru at her residence. Christine Andrade (102) cut the cake along with Sarala Kanchan, Indrali Jayakar Shetty, Ikalabava Devi Shetty and other guests. Christine Andrade was felicitated with a shawl, memento and basket of fruits by the guests and society directors.
