World AIDS Day 2023: “Symposium on HIV” and quiz for postgraduates at Manipal.

On the occasion of World AIDS Day 2023 on 1st December 2023, Manipal Center for Infectious Diseases, PSPH, MAHE, Manipal, Department of Infectious Diseases and Community Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal organized a series of activities including patient education program , “Symposium on HIV” and quiz for postgraduates.

The patient Awareness Programme at Kasturba Hospital was inaugurated by Dr Avinash Shetty--Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and Dr. Shiran Shetty--Deputy Medical superindent, & Professor and HOD, Department of Gastroenterology& Hepatology. Dr. Kavitha Saravu--Professor & HOD, Infectious Diseases, Dr. Ashwini Kumar-- Professor & HOD, Community Medicine, KMC, Manipal. Dr. Kavitha highlighted about the theme for World AIDS Day 2023 and provided information on facilities available for testing and management of HIV/AIDS at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

Dr. Sneha D Mallya, Associate professor, Department of Community Medicine, KMC, Manipal delivered the educational session on HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention, to all the patients in the OPD. Dr. Nitin Gupta, Associate professor, Department of Infectious Diseases KMC, Manipal delivered a talk on Neurological Manifestations in HIV.  

Dr Muralidhar Varma, Additional Professor, Department of Infectious Diseases KMC, Manipal talked about Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases in HIV. Dr. Shivdas Rajaram Nik Assistant Professor, Department of Infectious Diseases KMC, Manipal delivered a talk on Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission. The scientific sessions were moderated by Dr Vasudev Acharya—Professor of Medicine and Dr Ashwini Kumar—Professor and head of Community Medicine. The program also included an interesting quiz for postgraduate students conducted by Dr Praveen Tirlangi,

Assistant Professor, Department of Infectious diseases. The program was attended by more than 70 participants.
