It was a festive look all around the NITI – National Industrial Training Institute, Campus in Heardi Barkur as Mr B Shantarama Shetty, the Chairman of The Barkur Educational Society, presided over the stage programme Annual Sports Day on Thursday, 8th February, 2024, at 10.00 am.

Active involvement and attachment to ground played a huge role in his physical fitness over the years and today’s generation shying away to be in the playground, in towns and cities is alarming, he gave a clarion call to young technicians in NITI to make the best use of facilities and opportunities like this to the maximum.

Mr H Vittal Shetty Shedikodlu the Vice President of BES too was present on this occasion. In his message congratulated the Principal and staff for organising this event and took the opportunity to thank the classmates and friends of late Ranjith Kumar, who had a unfortunate and untimely death and his memory is made permanent by taking lead in having this annual event regularly.

‘It is the playground which makes permanent friendships’ for life time, not the classrooms’ amidst the thunderous applause, Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of BES expressed his joy and happiness to see the enthusiasm with youth and as sports and games unite all irrespective of class and caste…. Let the spirit of sportsmanship triumphs with healthy competitions and congratulated Principal and staff for their wonderful and professional arrangements.

While taking the opportunity to wish the Sports Meet a roaring success with maximum participation, by the students Mr A Krishna Hebbar the Treasurer of BES, recalled his memories with veterans like Late Mr VL Roche and others way back in 1984 and assured all sorts of encouragement and facilities to promising athletes to perform better at higher platforms.

Correspondent of National ITI, Mr Ramachandra Kamath thanked the Mgmt Committee members for gracing this occasion and assured them students of ITI Barkur are disciplined and responsible and keeping reputation and goodwill flag flying high, both in studies and extracurricular fields.

Mr B Shantarama Shetty, in his presidential address “such sports competitions teach you time management, and discipline as many converted their hobbies into a career. While wishing the event all success, he cautioned, “generally it has been proved to be a weapon to reduce stress and depression, especially in this contemporary world of sticking too much of time on mobiles and computers...”
To conclude the stage programme, Mr Bhaskar Upadya, Vice Principal ITI Barkur proposed vote of thanks. The beautiful event aptly compeered by Mr Manjunath Naik, Lecturer.
