Udupi, February 10 : Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundurao said that the district health officials and staff have made great progress in providing good health services to the common people and should be a role model for other districts.

  He was speaking at the city Health and Family Welfare Department officials’ office today while reviewing the progress of the health department.

It is the desire of the government to provide good health services to the public and many new schemes and programs have been implemented for the improvement of health. Improvements are being made in the distribution system of medicines to provide free medicines to the patients, 108 ambulances are being given to each taluk and their management is being improved.

He suggested that action should be taken to open a Caring center in PPP or the government itself in the district to provide proper treatment to endosalpan sufferers. He said that there is a demand for a program officer and a vehicle for the health supervision of endosalphan sufferers and action will be taken in this regard.

He instructed the District Health and Family Welfare Officers to immediately take other doctors, including specialist doctors, to the community health centers, saying that there is a demand for machinery and vehicles required for the control and treatment of tuberculosis in the district.

  It has come to know that the posts of laboratory officers and nurses are vacant in the district. He said that the process of filling up 800 posts at the state level is going on and will be completed soon, in which case the necessary personnel will be assigned to the district.

Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka should take steps to make healthcare services accessible to everyone. In an emergency like an accident, hospitals should give priority to life-saving treatment. If this is violated, action should be taken under KPM, he said.

MLA Yashpal A Suvarna said that the necessary funds should be provided for the maintenance of the Mother and Child hospital in the city and the community health center of Brahmavar should be raised to a higher level and drivers should be provided to run the vacant ambulance.

MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole said that the taluk level hospital for Byndoor should be upgraded and the primary health centers in Kollur and Siddapur should be upgraded and dialysis units should be opened in the existing hospital in Byndoor.
