Ladies and Gentlemen,
Namaskara!
1. I am pleased to be part of the third edition of the Deccan Herald Bengaluru Vision 2040 Summit.
2. This summit holds tremendous significance as it brings together visionary leaders, thought influencers, and committed citizens, all contributing to the collective vision of our beloved city, Bengaluru.
3. Deccan Herald and Prajavani have their roots in Bengaluru and they have been the conscience keepers of the society since several decades.
4. It is very apt for an institution like Deccan Herald to organize such a summit and deliberate on the transformation and growth of Bengaluru in coming Decades. I congratulate Mr. Seetharaman Shankar and his team for this great effort.
5. Bengaluru, a city that stands proudly as one of the top technology hubs globally, deserves our utmost attention and priority in terms of development. It is not merely a city; it is a symbol of innovation, diversity, and progress. As the Chief Minister of Karnataka, I am committed to ensuring that Bengaluru continues to thrive and reach global scales by focusing on critical aspects such as infrastructure, quality of living, and citizen amenities.
6. The heart of our state’s economy lies in Bengaluru City, and our vision is to transform it into a global economic powerhouse through the provision of world-class infrastructure.
7. We are acutely aware of the mobility challenges that plague our city, and I assure you that we are working tirelessly with a result-oriented and multi-dimensional approach to address this issue. Efficient and sustainable transportation is not just a goal; it is a commitment we make to the people of Bengaluru.
8. Our commitment extends beyond mere development – it encompasses the creation of a cleaner, greener city that provides quality services to its citizens. We are steadfast in our resolve to reduce the socio-economic divide and provide inclusive infrastructure that betters the lives of every resident.
9. Our commitment to make Bengaluru, smarter, greener, cleaner and better is not just a statement, through Brand Bengaluru we have already begun our journey in this path.
10. Our efforts to resource mobilisation and exploring innovative ideas and initiatives in pursuit of achieving this endeavor is testament to our commitment.
11. I also feel the citizens of Bengaluru, the corporates and every stake holder in the process of Bengaluru should make his contribution to the city as the city has given us a better life, socially, economically and in every other way.
12. In the recently presented budget, I touched upon various critical subjects pertaining to Bengaluru. It is not just about metro lines, roads, and smart mobility solutions; it’s about providing affordable healthcare, education, housing, and other essential benefits to the urban poor. Maintaining peace, law and order and ensuring safety is also our priority. Our vision is comprehensive and holistic, aiming for the betterment of every citizen.
13. To alleviate the pressure on Bengaluru City, we are committed to developing towns on the outskirts as satellite towns, ensuring road and train connectivity to places like Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hosakote, Doddaballapura, Magadi, and Bidadi.
14. Strengthening public healthcare facilities is a top priority, with considerable financial allocations being made for government healthcare institutions in the city. The Indira Canteen initiative is another step we have taken to support the urban poor, providing them with essential sustenance.
15. Our focus on housing is paramount, and we are exploring resource mobilization through asset monetization and other innovative initiatives to address the housing challenges faced by our citizens.
16. In all our endeavors, we recognize the importance of a compassionate approach to urban problems. It is not merely about the money we spend; it is about understanding and empathizing with the challenges faced by our fellow citizens.
17. In conclusion, I am optimistic about the future of Bengaluru. I believe that through collaborative efforts, innovative solutions, and a shared vision, we can transform Bengaluru into a city that not only meets the expectations of its residents but sets an example for the world.
18. I am sure that this summit would throw light upon various aspects of life in Bengaluru and evolve solutions to several burning issues and challenges. I would be glad to hear from you about the insights of the summit and our Government will seriously consider valid suggestions.
19. I extend my heartfelt thanks to each one of you for your commitment to shaping Bengaluru’s vision for the year 2040. Together, let us create a city that stands as a beacon of progress, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Thank you,
Jai Hind
