Brahmavara, Mar. 3: An incident in which a young man was shot and killed with a pistol at home took place on Saturday night at Hanehalli in Barkur of Brahmavara taluk.
The murdered youth has been identified as Krishna (36). Krishna, who was working in Manipal, was having dinner alone at home last night and came to know that the assailants shot him and fled with a pistol.
Police sources said that Krishna was seriously injured and died on the spot.
Neighbors who heard the sound of firing thought it was firecrackers. This act came to light in the early morning.
Udupi District Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K visited the incident site and inspected it. A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a total of four rounds were fired. Police are investigating what led to the crime.
