Udupi : Some of my friends of both parties consulted with me regarding the contesting in the election and will take a decision within a week whether to contest in the Lok Sabha or not, Immediate Past Chairman of Karnataka Backward Classes Commission K. Jayaprakash Hegde said.
He held a media interaction on behalf of the Udupi District Working Journalists Association at the Press Club of Brahmagiri on Monday. To the question about the possibility of contesting from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency in the Lok Sabha elections, I am not in any party. He said that he will discuss with his friends and family whether to stand for the election or not and if he gets a green signal, he will decide from which party to contest within a week.
To a query on joining Congress party, Jayaprakash Hegde said, “I am pleased that my name is receiving attention in the press and media. Neither the Congress party nor I have officially confirmed any plans regarding my joining the Congress party. For my personal matters, I will be travelling Bengaluru today and I will make a decision regarding my political career. Once again I would like you to tell that, I will consult with my family members and friends at large about the joining any party and contest in the election”, he said.
