Udupi : The grand opening ceremony and blessings of Happy Home for the Aged held at Lewis Mansion, Mayadi Road, Tenkabettu near here on Sunday 7^th April, 2024.

Prior to formal opening ceremony, Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur inaugurated the building by cut the ribbon. Fr. Valerian Mendonca and Rev Fr. Joy Andrade Asst. parish priest blessed the Happy Home for the Aged with the prayers.

After the blessing of the Happy Home building, Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca inaugurated the programme with lighting the lamp. Rev Fr. Joy Andrade along with Leslie Lewis and family accompanied the lighting the lamp.

In his inaugural address, Fr. Valerian Mendonca appreciated the owner of the Happy Home for the aged for his valuable contribution and services to the elder aged people with love and honesty. The senior citizens are to be taken good care in the Jyotsna Home for the aged and now Leslie Lewis constructed his own building for the aged. The efforts and love of Leslie for the senior citizens will be appreciated, he said. Further he said that a light isn’t a light if it shines for itself, a flower isn’t flower if it blooms for itself, A life isn’t  a life if it’s lived for oneself unless it’s lived for others and Leslie is one such example who constructed a beautiful home for the aged for noble cause.

Fr. Joy Andrade also spoke during the occasion and appreciated the work done by the Leslie and family for the services to be provided for the senior citizens of the aged home.

Fr. Valerian distributed the prizes for the workers who worked for the building.

Earlier the stage programme began with short prayers. The youngsters displayed the various dances for the guests and well-wishers.

Leslie Lewis welcomed the gathering and Smitha Lewis proposed the vote of thanks. Prema Lewis compered the whole programme systematically. The lunch was served to all the guests, invitees and ward people.
