Manipal – The Hemophilia Society, Manipal Chapter, in collaboration with Kasturba Hospital Manipal, is proud to announce the upcoming "Asha Kiran 2024" Hemophilia Summer Camp. This pivotal event, scheduled from April 19th to April 21st, marks a milestone as it commemorates "25 Years of Courage" under the theme "Equitable Access for All: Recognizing All Bleeding Disorders."

The Asha Kiran camp, part of the Hemophilia Society’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, aims to empower individuals with bleeding disorders, promote inclusivity, and enhance community connections. This year’s camp is particularly significant, celebrating a quarter-century of dedication and advocacy.

The inaugural ceremony will feature distinguished guests, including Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of Kasturba Medical College Manipal, who commented, “As we celebrate 25 years of courage and commitment at the Asha Kiran 2024 camp, it’s important to reflect on how far we have come and the path forward. This camp symbolizes our relentless pursuit of knowledge and our dedication to the community. It’s an opportunity to share advances, foster new skills, and strengthen bonds within the hemophilia community. Our goal is to ensure that every participant leaves empowered and equipped to manage their health with confidence.”

Joining him will be Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal, who stated, “We at Kasturba Hospital are deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for those with bleeding disorders. The Asha Kiran camp is not just an event; it’s a beacon of hope and a strong advocate for equitable healthcare. Through this initiative, we aim to educate, empower, and elevate the lives of our patients, ensuring that everyone has access to the comprehensive care and support they need to lead fulfilling lives.”

Throughout the three-day event, approximately 120 participants will engage in a variety of activities designed to educate, empower, and entertain. Highlights include educational sessions on "Healthy Diet for a Healthy Mind" led by faculty from the Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, and the "Self-help to Help" initiative focusing on women’s empowerment.Physical wellness activities, crucial for managing joint health, will be conducted by Dr. Ganesh and his team from the Manipal College of Health Professions, MAHE. These sessions are tailored to improve the quality of life for individuals living with bleeding disorders.

The success of Asha Kiran and the ongoing journey of the Hemophilia Society, Manipal Chapter, would not be possible without the unwavering dedication of key figures such as Dr. Annama Kurien, Chairperson of the society; Ms. Sulochana B., President of the Hemophilia Society; Dr. Archana MV, Clinical Coordinator, Hemophilia Treatment Center Manipal; Dr. Srejith G, former president of the society; and the executive committee and volunteers.
