Udupi : There was a severe drought situation in the state. But for the people’s difficulties and farmers’ difficulties, the Union government did not attend to our state cause. There were 27 BJP members of parliament of the state. They never raised the difficulties of our Kannada land, said K J George, State Power Minister.

Addressing a press meet held at District Congress office, Nairkere near here on Friday, K J George said that BJP saying that Congress ruled seven decades, but not development done in the country. All these baseless allegations are by the BJP leaders to attract the voters and the people. During the Indira Gandhi rule, India won the wars against Pakistan and a lot of developmental works were done for the country. Under the leadership of Rajeev Gandhi also developmental works were continued. Narasimha Murthy and Dr Manmohan Singh did revolutionary development in trade, Information technology and basic needs of the people, he said.

Karnataka state is the second state that gives highest taxes to the center. More than Rs 4 lac crore collected taxes amount from the state which is second to none in the country. But the Union government gave us only Rs. Fifty Thousand crore back to the state which is condemnable one, he said.

In order to face inflation and other issues, the state government introduced guarantees schemes for the people of the state and what we said and fulfilled. Due to guarantees for people, other developmental works have not stopped. It has been going on in all the constituencies. It is only BJP’s propaganda by criticizing the guarantees schemes of the state. We do not have a financial shortage due to the guarantees and there is no economic burden for the state, he said.

Even though there has been heavy demand for the electricity in the state, we do not have any problems with power cuts. We are getting electric power from the other states and face our problems of power distribution. We never failed to provide electricity power to our farmers, he said.
