Udupi: BJP’s rebel candidate from Vidhan Parishad South-West Graduate Constituency K. Raghupathi Bhat indirectly expressed his displeasure against the Udupi MLA today at the inauguration ceremony of the election office set up in his house at Karamballi near Ambagilu here

Raghupathy Bhat said that even though I lost the ticket in the last assembly election, I worked honestly. However, I have not got respect, recognition and love from BJP leaders. Raghupathi Bhatt expressed his displeasure that the BJP has gone to the extent of removing his photo from the office while he was working for the Lok Sabha elections.

My photo was also taken in Brahmavara’s office. This time Lok Sabha election pamphlets did not even put my photo as a former MLA. What injustice have I done to the party, he asked.

Even today, the development works being done in Udupi Assembly Constituency are from the grants released during my tenure. I am not invited to the inauguration of these works. Here is a situation where the workers congratulate me and remove the flexes, he said.

Gurme Suresh Shetty, MLA from neighboring Kapu Constituency, whatever work is done under the grant of former MLA, he himself goes to the former MLA’s house, takes him in his car and inaugurates the work himself. They also put their photo. He posted the photo of the former MLA in the Lok Sabha elections earlier. But he indirectly expressed displeasure with the Udupi MLAs saying that nothing happened in the Udupi Assembly Constituency.

I have worked and sacrificed for the party. I also have a role in building the party. If I have spoken a word against the party in the election, let me take my photo. But I am very hurt by the way I was treated which did not do injustice to the party in any way. Raghupathi Bhatt said that for that reason I am contesting as a independent candidate now.

Around 500 people gathered during the inauguration of Raghupathy Bhat’s election campaign office.

The Convener Upendra Nayak, prominent leaders Raghuram Shetty, K T Poojary, Lalaji Raghavendra Acharya, Panduranga Malpe, Jayakar Acharya Karamballi, Shiraram Udupa, Pro. Kokkarne Surendranath Shetty, Kumardas and others were present on the dais.
