Print Kemmannu, May 20, 2012: The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of St.Theresa Church Kemmannu was inaugurated here at Kemmannu Church today on 20/05/2012, Sunday. The holy mass was held at 8.00 AM in the morning and the main celebrant was V.Rev.Fr. Baptist Menezes, The Episcopal Vicar of Udupi. He was accompanied by V. Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo, the Vicar Vaar of Kallianpur Varado who inaugurated the new prayer handouts made to mark the celebration.
“The celebration of 75 years of this church should not only mark the celebration but also encourage all to continue to help each others and have more devotion towards god” Said V. Rev. Fr. Baptist in his presidential address.” Unity and the spirit of integrity is something we need to develop” He Added. V. Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo congratulated the parish council and all the other members of the organizing committee and wished them good luck for all activities through the year.
The stage program began after the breakfast and the prayer dance at 9.30 AM. The guests revealed the logo of the celebration. Rev. Fr. Anil D’silva, the coordinator and director for the entire event read out the program plan for the entire year. Mrs Grace Machado read out the history of the church. There was also a felicitation program organized for 5 nuns of the Carmel convent who are supposed to be transferred soon. There was also a small play on the life of St.Theresa, that was acted out by the parishioners.
Rev.Fr.J.B.D’souza, parish Priest of Kemmannu Church, Mr.Ronald Menezes, Vice President Kemmannu Church, Sr. Leonilla, Superior Carmel Convent were also present on the dais. Mr. Ronald welcomed the gathering, Vivek Cornelio proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compeered by Vilbard D’souza and Melanie D’souza .
