Print Kemmannu: Icym organizes Blood Donation Camp with the say -It’s Safe, It’s Simple, It Saves Lives.
Kemmannu, June 22, 2014: Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Kemmannu Unit in association with the Government Hospital Udupi organized blood donation camp at the Church hall on Sunday June 22, 2014.
Parish priest Fr. Clement Mascarenhas along with Dr. Veena of Govt. Hospital, Kemmannu Panchayat President Mr. Nityananda Kemmannu along with Church Vice President Mr. Ronald Menezes, Secretary Mrs. Grace Machado, ICYM President Wilfred Fernandes, Secretary Rohan D’Souza, ICYM Animators Mr. Arun Fernandes and Mrs. Dorothy Andrade inaugurated he camp.
Mrs. Veronica Cornelio welcomed the guests and Dr. Veena informed the significance of blood donation and said that unlike other things in this is world there is no substitute for blood and only blood donation could save the needy in critical conditions.
Regular blood donors Mr. Johan Anthony D’Souza (75 donations), Mr. Braan D’Souza (25), Mrs. Veronica Cornelio (20), Mr. Arun Fernandes (15) Fr. Clement Mascarenhas (regular), Mr. Nityananda Kemmannu were recognized by presenting a rose to them.
In all 55 units of blood collected with majority of the donors being women. Apart from collecting the blood, the camp also served as an awareness initiative about the need and significance of donating blood, serving the message that “It’s Safe, It’s Simple, It Saves Lives”.
