Santhekatte/Kallianpur, Aug 5, 2014: In yet another accident, a woman crossing the NH 66 got injured seriously and shifted to the hospital.
The accident took place near Ashirvad at Santhekatte here this morning Aug 5, when a vehicle Jolly Ride (Seen in the pictures) plying from Udupi towards Santhekatte Junction hit the woman crossing the road. Traffic police who rrived at the spot took control of the incident. More details are awaited
Poor maintenance, unscientific infrastructure and the delays in completing the NH 66 road widening job of Udupi Kundapura stretch make Santhekatte Juction and Ashirvad crossing as an accident-prone areas. Cyclists, two-wheeler riders and pedestrians suffer the most number of fatalities. A few days back a two- wheeler was hit by an truck in the same spot. Completing the bypass roads connecting the national highway near Ashirvad and in Santhekatte and a proper pedestrian crossing at these junctions at the earliest is the need of the hour.

Mr. Sadik, I appreciate your suggestion. This I have been voicing but of no avail.
The traffic right from the Carmel school towards Hoode is always congested.
I had given a suggestion to turn the road as
one way from the Panchayat Office as ring
road. This will sort out the problems.
Give it a second thought and give it a
try. We still can revert if it does not work.  Agree[3]

| Presently I am on holidays and daily twice or thrice plying to Udupi from Hoode, the most dangerous strestch is Santhekatte to Ambagilu as the traffic moves in both direction without any control and motorist are in utter confusion due to detours here and there. The most frustrating part is kemmannu. from kemmannu down to carmel school strech, there is not a single day where either I have to wait for passing bus and truck or I have to take reverse to give way to coming vehicle. My humble request with Kemmannu.com to take this issue to the authorities or at least put a article on this where people can share their frustrations so that authorities can wake up and bring some solution to pathetic condition, in my opinion panchayath can conncet the road from Carmel school to the road coming from Kallianpr which coonects to Hoode or construct a road from Hindu school area. the two bootle necks at present kemmannu road is sharp bend at bavikatte and trukc unloading goods at that stretches. Install Traffic Signals, wake up Traffic police before more accidents occur. Agree[7]
