Udupi : The nine days novena services of the Our Lady of Velankani  at Stella Maris church, Kalmadi near Malpe began on Wednesday, 6^th August, 2014 for the preparation of the Annual Feast to be celebrated on 15^th August, 2014.

The Nine days novena services which was inaugurated by Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa  Public Relation Officer of Udupi Diocese as well as Parish Priest of St. Anthony Church, Kuntalnagar near Moodubelle by hoisting the Shrine flag. Prior to the Eucharistic celebration, Adoration prayers were held by Fr. Denis D’Sa along with Rev Fr. Alban D’Souza Rector of the Shrine.  As usual large number of devotees of Mother Velankani  participated for the celebration of the Eucharist as well as first day novena prayers.

The annual feast of the shrine will be held on 15^th August, 2014 which Bishop of Udupi Diocese Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo will be the chief celebrant of the Solemn High mass at evening. There will be procession of the offerings (Hore Kanike) held on 13^th August from Adi Udupi at 2.30pm onwards to the Shrine followed by Eucharistic celebration which will be  headed by Most Rev Dr. Francis Serrao,  Bishop of Shimoga  Diocese.
