Udupi: District Celebrates the Ganesh Chaturthi

Udupi, Aug 30, 2014: The District celebrated the Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi, with much pomp and grandeur. This time the citizens are more conscious of their environment, most of them are doing so in eco-friendly ways.

According to Ramesh Kidiyoor an artist from Kunjibettu  “the beautiful color for these idols comes from water based paints, so these idols are environment friendly”.  He makes more than 300 idols per year and encourages eco-friendly Ganesha idols. “Customers do not demand any specific model of Lord Ganesha; they just want their Ganesh to be beautiful and the rest is up to us”, he says.

ಉಡುಪಿಯ ನಗರದ ರಥಬೀದಿ,ಶ್ರೀಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀವೆ೦ಕಟರಮಣ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ, ಚಿಟ್ಪಾಡಿ,ಅಲೆವೂರು, ಕಿನ್ನಿಮುಲ್ಕಿ, ಕಡೆಕಾರು, ಕಿದಿಯೂರು, ಅ೦ಬಲಪಾಡಿ, ಮಾರುತಿವಿಥಿಕಾ ರಸ್ತೆ, ಸರ್ವಿಸ್ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಬೋರ್ಡ್ ಹೈಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ, ಕಡಿಯಾಳಿ, ಮನ್ನೋಳಿಗುಜ್ಜಿ, ಕರ೦ಬಳ್ಳಿ, ಬನ್ನ೦ಜೆ ಸೇರಿದ೦ತೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಶ್ರೀಗಣೇಶೋತ್ಸವನ್ನು ಶುಕ್ರವಾರದ೦ದು ಆರ೦ಭಿಸಲಟ್ಟಿತು.

ಉಡುಪಿಯ ರಥಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಗಣೇಶೋತ್ಸವ ಸಮಿತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತವೃ೦ದ ಮತ್ತು ರಿಕ್ಷಾ ಚಾಲಕರ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಗಣೇಶೋತ್ಸವದ ಸಾ೦ಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಯನ್ನು ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣಮಠದ ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ಶ್ರೀಕಾಣಿಯೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಅದಮಾರು ಮಠದ ಶ್ರೀವಿಶ್ವಪ್ರಿಯ ತೀರ್ಥಶ್ರೀಪಾದರು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿ,ಶುಭಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.

ಸಮಾರ೦ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ವಿನಯಕುಮಾರ್ ಸೂರಕೆ, ನಗರ ಸಭಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಯುವರಾಜ್, ತೆ೦ಕಪೇಟೆ ವಾರ್ಡಿನ ನಗರ ಸಭಾ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾದ ಶ್ಯಾಮ್ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಕುಡ್ವ, ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಶ್ರೀಅನ೦ತೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ವಿದ್ವಾನ್ ವೇದವ್ಯಾಸ ಐತಾಳ್ರವರು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಗೌರವಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಕೇದಾರನಾಥ ಕಿಶೋರ್, ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಅಶೋಕ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಕೊಡವೂರು, ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷಾರದ ದಿನೇಶ್ ಪುತ್ರನ್, ಟಿ.ಜಯಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಕಿಣಿ, ಶಾ೦ತರಾಮ್ ಸಾಲ್ವ೦ಕರ್, ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾದ ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣ ಜಿ ಭಟ್, ಭಾಸ್ಕರ್ ರಾವ್ ಕಿದಿಯೂರು, ಜಯ೦ತ್ ಕಾ೦ಚನ್, ದಿನೇಶ್ ಪೂಜಾರಿ ಮೂಡಬೆಟ್ಟುರವರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
