Miday Meal Project of Lns District 323 A2 inagurated in Bhandup, Mumbai.

Mumbai, Sep 1, 2014: Miday Meal Project of Lns District 323 A2 in association with ANNAMRITA, Ishkon Food Relief Foundation,  was inaugurated at the worthy hands of DG Ln Anil Jadhav at Vidhyadhiraja High School, Bhandup Village on Sat, 16th August 2014.

Mr Harish Desai Ishkon, said that we have started this project Midday Meal for poor children across India 4 years ago and have crossed almost 12 lakhs students being fed every day. Mr Hanuman Agarwal, DC for Activities, stated that this year we have adopted this project to feed both Aided and Unaided School students, primarily being our focus on making children have Nutritional Food, as children are from poor family and as per survey in India, 48% of Indian Children Under Age 5 are Malnourished.

Ln Nitin Shetty, 1st VDG, stated that Kanjur Marg Club wanted to start a Medical Centre too for the poor in this area. Hon’ble MP, Dr Kirit Somaiya’s associate Mr Deepak Dalvi, who was present at the event, promised that he will made a space available very soon, so that the club can start a Medical Centre for a good cause before October.

Ln Pankaj Shah,Ln Shailesh Poddar,  Co-ordinator Rajendra Shah said within one month of beginning the Lionistic year we have collected nearly 4 lakhs Rupees, almost feeding 400 children. The Principal of the school, stated though our children are from economically poor family in the vicinity of Bhandup Village, we have lot of good record as this year our SSC students came first and got 96%, we have 2 international awards from UK. our one student has been selected and gone to Washington to study, after which he will return to our school to take up commerce.

Pre-Ganesh Chaturthi, Tenants/Families of Leprosy Colony, Anand Nagar Thane (E) got 1 kg sugar each from members of District 323 A2, on 27th August 2014.

Lions & Lioness of District 323 A2 distributed 750 kgs of Sugar to Leprosy Colony Thane (E) and some more to Adivasi Pada at Wada, the worst hit economically poor area in Maharashtra.

The theme of Lions Clubs International is EK MUTTHI ANAAJ -Every day Ek Mutthi Anaj like Rice, Sugar & Pulses should be taken out separately before we start cooking Food in our house for donation of needy people and to be stored in separate container (jar) provided by the committee. When containers are full it should be emptied in small bags.

At the end of the month each club should collect from members and neighbours & Donor friends and clubs will donate to needy Ashrams, Old age Homes, Destitute Children Homes etc.

Members have decided to donate every month in such a way either Rice, Sugar, Pulses and Oil etc.

Leprosy Colony Tenants were elated as they got Sugar on the eve of Ganesha Festival.
