Monthi Festh Celebrated by St.Peter’s Konkani Kutamb Bangalore

Monthi  Saibinichem  festh(Nativity of our Blessed Virgin Mary) celebrated by St Peter’s Konkani Kutam (SPKK)

Bangalore, Sep 9, 2014: St Peter’s Konkani Kutam celebrated Monthi Festh, at St.Peter’s Church, Off Old Airport Road, Bangalore on Monday, 8thSeptember, with a Holy Mass in Konkani at 8.00 am, to a crowded gathering of devotees.

Holy Mass was preceded by a short procession to the church Grotto of our Blessed Virgin Mary.  The main celebrant for the event was by Fr Praveen Pinto, OCD(Carmalite), blessed the New Paddy with the choir leading everyone and singing the Konkani hymn ‘Sakkad sangatha melyan’,children led the procession with beautiful flowers and gathered around the statue of our beloved Mother Mary to honor Her. At the Grotto, as the choir sang the beautiful Konkani hymn, ’Moriyek  hogolshiyam’, the children showered colorful flowers on our dearest ’Mother Mary’.The main attraction was this year that  the elders in most numbers  joined  children in showering the flowers to our Mother Mary

Fr. Adrain Mascarenhas, Parish Priest started the proceedings in church by addressing the gathering in Konkani to the utter delight of everyone gathered there.  Mr. Maxi Fernandes, President of SPKK then addressed the gathering and also gave a brief introduction after which Fr Praveen Pinto led the congregation in celebrating a high mass. Throughout the Mass the melodious Konkani choir played a major role in enriching the spirituality of the event led by Mr. Jerome Mascarenhas.

Mrs  Emilian D’Souza, Secretary of SPKK proposed the vote of thanks. The blessed paddy was distributed and roce (sweet) which symbolizes oneness was served among the gathering followed by a hearty. The gathering then engaged in fellowship and it was great to see radiant smiles all around. Sugarcane was distributed at the end and the children were thrilled to carry it with them back home along with chocolates.

On the whole, Monthi Saibinichem  Festh was celebrated by SPKK, Bangalore, in a very grand and traditional way, full of pomp and religious fervor with the support of all the members and their families. Thank you all.
