Udupi : Udupi Zilla Nagarika Committee, Catholic Sabha and the Inter Religious dialogue Committee of Udupi Diocese jointly organized Sarva Dharma Deepavali celebrations at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Campus here on Monday, 27^th October, 2014.

Prior to the programme under the leadership of Zilla Nagarika Committee President well known Nithyananda Volakkadu a huge festival lamp of  around 26 feet high,  10 feet width and  around 250 K.G. of weight “Gududeepa” installed at the church campus which prepared by Keshav Acharya and party. Colourful Rangoli prepared by Mahesh Sutar beautifully displayed at campus also.

The stage program started with prayer dance by St. Mary’s School. Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas Parish Priest of the Mother of Sorrows Church welcomed the gatherings. The Sarvadharma deepavali celebrations inaugurated by Shri Laxmivarathirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt along with Bishop of Udupi Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Maulana Imranullha Khan Mansoori Immam of Jamia Mosque Malpe, Rt. Stevan Sarvotham Zonal President of CSI Jubilee Church, Udupi, Mahohar Shetty Managing Director of Sai Radha group, Rev Fr. William Martis Director of Inter Religious Dialogue, Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas and among others.

During in his inaugural address Shri Laxmivarathirtha Swamiji said that about the character and importance of installing Gududeepa since years during the Deepavali. It’s the festival of unity with all sections of the religions and the people. Deepavali brings us togetherness.

Rev Fr. William Martis said that small light can give ample light to all of us and can give equal love and light to all.

Maulana Imranuallha Khan said during in his Deepavali message that Deepavali festival celebrations is the symbol of unity and brotherhood. All religions teaches us about the unity and brotherhood. Let light brings us to unity and brotherhood with all the religions.

Manohar Shetty of Sai Radha was felicitated during the occasion by the personalities on the dais. Meanwhile,  Nithyananda Volakkadu and others who responsible for the Sarvadharma Deepavali celebrations were honoured.

Bishop of Udupi Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo during in his presiding address said that let we become light of the love and prosperity. Deepavali celebrations will spread the peace and love in the society.

Udupi Diocese Vicar General Msgr. Fr. Baptist Menezes, Rev Fr. John Mendonca, Catholic Sabha Udupi Unit President Lesli Corlnelio, Sauharda Committee convener Alphone D’Costa, Budan Basha, Rev Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and others among present during the occasion.

Alphonse D’Costa proposed vote of thanks. Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa PRO of Diocese compered the programmes. Between the interval of the speeches various cultural programs dances, singing were held. The program ended with light showers of rain and display of fireworks.
