Shirva : Udupi Diocese level Centenary Bible quiz  was held on Sunday, 16^th November, 2014 at Don Bosco Hall Shirva on the occasion of Centenry Celebrationbs of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva. The registration started at 10 a.m., and 20 teams from various parishes of Udupi diocese were present. The love for the word of god was seen in the participants as they had travelled all the way from every corner of Udupi diocese.

The preliminary round in the form of written quiz was started at 10:30 am, and top 6 winning team of preliminary round were selected for the final round. The top 6 participants for final round were from Karkala town, Padukone, Mudarangadi, Pangala, Pethri, Shirva.

The most eagerly awaited part of the quiz - The final round started at 2:30 pm after lunch, and was conducted in 7 levels. The clergy members of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva were the animators for the quiz. The rounds were interesting and were conducted using various modern tools and techniques. The enthusiastic participants and audience made this evening truly a spiritual one.

Mr.Gilbert Pinto was the MC for the program and Ms.VenissaD’souza conducted the audience round and successfully involved the audience also in the event.

The winners of the event were

·         Our Lady of Health church, Shirva – 1^st place

·         St.Peter’s church, Pethri – 2^nd place

·         St.John Evangelist church, Pangala- 3^rd place

The winners of the event were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10000/-, Rs. 7000/-, Rs. 5000/- respectively. All the participants were awarded a participation certificate.
The conclusion program was held after the event. Vicar General  Mjr. Dr. Baptist Menezes presided over the program, Fr.Stany Tauro, the parish priest of Shirva, Fr. Wilson Lobo and Fr.Jerald D’mello, the assistant parish priests, Fr. Simao Fernandes, Rector, DBYC Shirva, Sr.Hilda, Sr.Brigit Madtha, Mr.Wilson D’souza, Presidentof Parish council, Mr. William Machado, Secretary of Parish council were present at the event.

It was a day of togetherness for parishioners ofShirva , as the youth units of the parish -YCS,SSVP and ICYM joined hands together in fellowship to make this event a grand success.
