Udupi : Bishop of Udupi Diocese celebrated Christmas with the media persons during the get together organized at Bishop House Hall on Thursday, 18th December, 2014.
The program began with one minute silent prayer to express grief over Peshawar massacre of school children. Vicar General of Udupi Diocese Msgr. Dr. Baptist Menezes gave introduction talk and welcomed the gatherings.
On the dais along with the Bishop, Msgr. Dr. Fr. Baptist Menezes, Very Rev Fr. Fred rick Mascarenhas Parish Priest of Udupi Church, Jayakar Suvarna President of Udupi District Working Journalists Association, Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa PRO of the diocese and Michael Rodrigues Christian Media co- ordinator of the Diocese were present.
As a symbol of Christmas celebration Bishop along with Jayakar Suvarna cut the Christmas cake and later distributed to all the media persons.
During the occasion Jayakar Suvarna was felicitated by the Bishop with shawl, garland and basket of fresh fruits. During in his address Jayakar Suvarna thankful for the Bishop for his interaction with the media persons. He said that this honour will goes to all media persons. He appreciated for the Bishop for the honour during in his brief address.
An official website “Uzvaad.com” was launched during the occasion. During in his message Bishop said that Christmas heralds the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. His magnetic personality was both human and divine. His life was an open look which revealed the infinite love and compassion of God towards man. Christmas cribs, Christmas cards, Christmas carols, Christmas star, Christmas sweets along with the Santa Claus evoke in us feelings of joy and excitement at the birth of the Divine Babe of Bethlehem.
Jesus had no servants, yet they called him Master. He had no degrees, yet they called him Teacher. He administered no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared him. He won no military battles, yet he conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified him. He was buried in tomb, yet he lives today.
Jesus’ peace will reign in every heart and mind which is filled with good will. His love embraced the whole mankind with unconquerable benevolence and invincible good will. “All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned” have not affected the life of man upon this earth as much as that of the one Solitary Lidw – that of Jesus of Nazareth.
Mankind needs him today much more than ever before. Mahatma Gandhi successfully used his twin weapons of truth and non-violence in order to obtain political freedom for India. Jesus’ relevance outlasts time and space. May he grant us His devine peace and unite all of us into one family. May his peace be with you at Christmas and throughout the New Year 2015.
Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa proposed vote of thanks and appreciated the journalists for their contribution through publicity. Rev Fr. Chetan Lobo capuchin and Editor of Uzvaad fortnightly compered the program.
