Moodbidri : Alva’s Virasat, a  Cultural Festival, is held January 8th to January 11th 2015. The performance, every day during the Virasat, comprises of classical music concerts in the first session and a variety of classical & folk dance performance in the second. A number of artistes of national & international repute from different parts of India are invited for performing such of the components which sweep over  the entire spectrum of the art forms both classical & folk. It is a strong conviction of Dr. M. Mohan Alva , the Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation , This is held  at Alva’s Palace Ground at Vidyagiri Moodabidri.

“Music connects the world and music is the realization of God and realization of art and culture,” said Ustad Amjad Ali Khan on Thursday January 8. He was speaking after receiving the ‘Alva’s Virasat 2015 Award’ at Alva’s College.

The program was  attracted thousands of people with variety of cultural program.On January 8th The inauguration of the program done by Dr Veerendra Hegde of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara kshethra.

The first day program  by Padmabhushan Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, All  day Classical music and dance, folk songs and dance  performed by artists from various states . Rajasthan’s classical and folk cultural team., Shri Rama Natak Nikethan,Dance from team  of Andhra Pradesh, Punjabi dance, Gujarathi Dance, String struck musical instruments fusion,Music By  Shivamani , attracted many people

On January 11th   Sunday Evening Dr Mohan Alwa welcomed guests  and The program began with lighting lamp by Sri Sri Vidya Prasanna Theertha Swamiji  Kukke Subramanya , in the presence of Shree Charukeerthi Swamiji moodbidri , Pradeep Kumar  Kalkura  the founder of "Kalkura Arts" ,Dr  Mohan Alwa ,  Dr. S. Ramananda Shetty Vice Chancellor Nitte Educatuin Trust . Mysore Manjunath and team’s ‘Naadaloka’   started at 6 15  and is attracted  the audience.The fest is  for the music lovers. Various instruments  played for two hours by  Manjunath and team artists who shown their performance ,then Cultural  program was held  by Alva’s students. The art exhibitions is main attraction .

He also said, “In the 21st century, we expected peace and harmony because we have acquired so much education and super science. But we still kill people on account of religion. In our family, we feel connected with every soul and religion through music. We feel that we have a common God and a common race.” Khan said that he was humbled to see Dr Mohan Alva’s contribution to the field of education and Ayurveda.

State minister B Ramanath Rai, who inaugurated the event, in his address said, “Virasat is a unique programme which exhibits the art and culture of this nation. This programme will exhibit talents and the culture of artists in an innovative way to the people of society.”

Praising Dr Alva he said, “Dr Mohan Alva is an alternate name for Moodbidri. He has achieved a great deal in the field of education through his efforts and talent. This great extravaganza involved all classes of people in the society.”

Dr N Vinay Hegde, president, NITTE Education Trust, in his address, lauding Dr Alva for his immense contribution to the field of education, art, culture, and sports, said, “Alvas is one of the best campuses in the field of education in the country. It is impossible to describe Dr Alva’s contribution. He is unique and exceptional in his field. Through his immense contribution to the field of education, he has created many tolerant, great personalities".

Dr Alva welcomed the guests. Subhalakshmi Khan, wife of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, V S Krishna Kumar, executive director of Canara Bank, Bangalore, P Jayaram Bhat, MD of Karnataka Bank, Nadija Dr G Shankar, president of G Shankar Family Trust, Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SCDCC Bank, Amarnath Shetty, Suresh Bhandary, and Capt Ganesh Karnik were also present.
