Udupi : The victims who displaced their land due to Suzlon Company demanded that the government should take steps to return their acquired land under the programme of Jameen Vapashi by chief minister from Padubidri itself.

During speaking with media persons Lolaksha Social Activist and one of the victim said that Palimar, Nandikoor, Nadsaalu and Hejamady villagers are happy to say that Congress protested in Janthar Manthar, New Delhi for Jameenu Vapashi programme against the NDA Government of Narendra Modi.

He said that Karnataka Industrial Area Developmental Board had sold 641.915 acres of land which was acquired Suzlon company.

As many as 275.835 acre in Nadsaalu, 204.700 acre in Palimar, 140.790 acre in Nandikur, 20.590 acre in Hejmady was acquired.

A notification was released stating that these areas come under Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on September 11, 2007. Suzlon sold the land to Synetra Engineering and Construction Company Ltd in 2009. Synetra has again sold the land to  Aspen Infrastructure Ltd in 2012, which  has started working in the same place.

He accused the change of ownership has led to huge fraud. Nearly hundreds of crores fraud has taken place. He added that of the total area acquired by KIADB, nearly 500 acres have remained unutilised.

Following which Aspen Infrastructure Ltd has come forward to sell the land that is not used. He demanded that the government should immediately interfere and take the initiative to redistribute the 500 acres of acquired land that has remained unutilized among the victims.

He said the government should take up the survey to ensure the proper amount of land that is acquired for the purpose and is being utilised.

So that he said the state government should initiate Jammen Vapashi programme from these areas are made to take shalter in rehabilitation colonies. More than 200 are victims of the fraud. He demanded that the government should also initiate judicial inquiry by retired judge.

He said that delegation of the victims would hold talks with chief Minister demanding the return of the land. He said that indefinite strike would be held in front of former Suzlon company owned building at Nandikoor. The land that was earmarked for the rehabilitation is not completely distributed among the displaced people of the area.
