Mudarangady : The Silver Jubilee celebrations of Legion of Mary (both Junior & Senior) were held here on Sunday, 24th May 2015. A number of dignitaries were present on this event.

In Mudarangady parish, Legion of Mary came into existence on 1st July 1990 due to the efforts of then parish priest, Rev. Joseph N. Lobo and Sr. Rachel. The first president of this organization was Mr. Joy D’Souza.

At 9:00 a.m., Most Rev,Dr. Anthony Fernandes, Bishop Emeritus of Bareili Diocese concelebrated the thanksgiving high mass together with a number of priests. Earlier, the facility for Twinkling Star play school was blessed by Very Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore. The members of Legion of Mary donated Rs.4 lakhs for this facility that included a spacious room, large television and a much needed air-conditioner. Soon after, soft drinks were served to everyone present.

At 11:00 a.m., stage programme  followed. All the persons, who were instrumental to make this programme, including the sponsors of the programme, were felicitated. The beneficiaries of the felicitation included all the members of the Legion, past and present office bearers, past parish priests, and Mr. Sunil DSouza, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council. At the same time, the winners of the Marian Quiz conducted exclusively for this occasion, were presented with attractive prizes. A souvenir was also brought out on this occasion.

At 1:00 p.m., tasty non-vegetarian food was served to all the 600+ people present.

Earlier, Smt. Veronica DSouza, President of Senior Legion welcomed the gathering and the Junior Legionaries extended floral welcome to the dignitaries. Smt. Rita Mendonca proposed  a vote of thanks. Smt. Jacintha DSouza compeered the programme.

Rev. Louis DSa, parish priest, toiled hard to make this memorable event a grand success.

In the evening, a comedy Konkani drama - Konee Somanaanth - was played at the church premises. Mr. Ivan DSouza, a son of the soil of Mudarangady, was felicitated on achieving his political dream. He was nominated to the Legislative Council of the Government of Karnataka as its member, recently.
