Udupi : Five Star friends Udayavara organized Udupi Diocese Level Tennis ball Cricket tournament on 14 June 2015 & 21- June 2015 at Udayavara Panchayat Ground.

Tournament was inaugurated by Wilfred D’souza, President of Sauhardha Samithi, Udayavara  on 14 June 2015. Talking on the occasion he said that “through these type of tournaments unity of youths increases & there will be good relation between them.”Total 12 teams participated on first day of the tournament.

On 21 June 2015 Total 12 teams participated. In first semi final SMS Bramhavara team defeated Moodbelle team & entered final. Vamanjoor team defeated Kuntalnagar team in second semi final & entered the finals.

In finals Vamanjoor  team won the toss & elected to bat first & scored 44 runs with 4 loss of wickets in 5 overs whereas SMS Bramhavara   scored 37 runs losing 6 wickets in 5 overs.The winning team took home a cash prize of Rs 10,000 & 5 star trophy & runner’s up team backed Rs 5000 & 5 star trophy. 20 teams participated from Udupi Diocese. 2 guest teams from Mangalore diocese.1 Syrian Catholic team & 1 Protestant team. Man of The match was Pramith Veigas , Vamanjoor. Best bolwer was Lesly Dcunha , Vamanjoor. Best batsman Avith Mascarenhas , Vamanjoor. Man of the series was Joy , Bramhavar won 10kg rice & trophy.

Closing ceremony was headed by Wilson D’souza , Udupi district Jaya Karnataka youth wing president. Addressing the gathering he said that “youths are the life of Nation. Youth’s should work together for the betterment of the society.” He also said that youth should join the groups like Jaya Karnataka & should indulge in social work. He congratulated five star friends & also the winners of the tournament.   

Sathish G Malpe famous tenis ball cricket player, Sayad Gurukamba, Mangalore popular commentators in hindi, Glanish & Glancia Pinto shuttle badminton players where felicitated on this occasion.
