Udupi : Both the ruling and opposition members’ of Udupi Municipal Council demanded the speedy solutions of the parking irregularities and problems from Tiger Circle Manipal to MIT both the ways of the road during the general body meeting of the Udupi Municipality Council at Sathyamurthi Auditorium here on Tuesday, 30^th June, 2015.

Municipal Council President P. Yuvaraj presided the meeting which ruling party member Ramesh Kanchan raised the vehicles parking issue at Manipal, said that irregularities in vehicles parking facilities at KMC Hospital creating hurdles for the public and there are plenty of complaints from members of public. Opposition Councillor Mahesh Thakur pressed the President that parking problems should be resolved as early as possible. Manipal Police Station in charge said that the police department has been effectively installed no parking signs at both sides of road. The problem specially at the emergency unit area very serious. President said that regarding the issue special team along with the members to visit Manipal and find out the measures to sort out vehicles parking problem.

Prashant Bhat alleged that the electric power supply was provided by the MESCOM to the building which Municipal permission not granted to the building.  MESCOM officials delay electricity connections to the poor but MESCOM provide connection faster to corporate establishments without necessary procedures. To reply attended MESCOM official said that they have served disconnection notice to the Manipal University for seven days, but Manipal University has approached the High Court and granted a stay order. Municipal Commissioner Manjunathaya intervened and said that MESCOM and CMC are the respondents in the case and so both MESCOM and City Municipal should file an appeal in the higher court. P. Yuvaraj said that the issue will be brought under the notice of Treasury and Energy ministers.

The member Vijay Amin alleged that there will be severe shortage of sand for the construction work in Municipal areas. To support Amin, Yashpal Suvarna and Mahesh Takur said that due to the shortage of sand, all developmental work to be standstill. President regarding the issue he had discussed with the Deputy Commissioner Vishal.

During the question hour along with President, Kavitha Krishnamurthy Vice President, Dr. M.R. Pai Opposition leader, Mahesh Thakur, Celina Karkada, Vashanthi Shetty, Madhav Bannanje, Shashiraj Kunder, Chandrakanth Naik and other members participated.
