Doha 18 Oct 2015: Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), Doha Qatar, a Mangalurean association organized at the foremost in Qatar -awaited event ’GVOM Taran Sanghi Wilfy Nite’ Doha on Friday 16 October 2015 at Doha’s Grand Regency Hall.

The winners of Gulf Voice of Mangalore from 2008 to 2014 are on one stage for the first time with the Rebimbus family presenting the melodious immortal and ever memorable songs of the legend of Konkani music ’Konkan Kogull’ Wilfy Rebimbus. Historic moment as GVOM stars Vinay Lewis, Ivan Fernandes, Gladys Lorenha, Reena D’Souza, Morvine Quadros and Joshal Sweeda D’Souza will perform with the legend’s family - ’Konkan Myna’ Meena Rebimbus, Veena and Vishwas with musicians Joswin Pinto.

The ever popular yesteryear songs of legendary composer-singer Wilfy Rebimbus as well as new songs composed by Meena, Veena and Vishwas which were rendered during the show were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Alfred Cyril Sequeira compered the program which began with the singing of MCA anthem by the committee. Leslie Rego, the vibrant compere from Mangaluru, took charge of the show and compered the entire event with his usual flair, wit and humour. Rebimbus family Meena, Veena and Vishwas entered the stage first as they sang (Dev Boro Dees Diundi) the wonderful evergreen Konkani song the winners of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore Vinay Lewis, Gladys Lorenha, Ivan Fernandes, Morvine Quadros and Joshal D’Souza joined them in signing on the stage. after that Vadondi Chadondi, Oh Sonia, Uzwaad Chandremcho, Bobby, Ani Mhaka na Kain Unne, Yujhe Yene Kenda, Disco, Tijhe yene kedna, Mai Medley, Vanita Vandana Shalini, Mujhe Vokle, Mujya kalzachi hariyek uddi, Sanyachi raat aychi, Fulchya sobith fulla, Mai tuka kasli zai sunn, Final song sung by all  singers  Mog Kara Konknecho.

The star Konkani singers sang solo and duet golden hits of Wilfy Rebimbus one after the other and every song was applauded by the packed audience at the Regency Halls where this program was conducted. Joswin Pinto Bendur with Singing Bird Musicians Doha provided enchanting music.
 
D4 Dance group Doha rocked the stage with wonderful dance as the songs were sung. The spice of the show was the rib tickling comedy by Merwyn Shirva, Alwyn Danthy and Royston Bolkunje who were flown from Mangalore for this show. Their comedy skits spread laughter around.

Between the musical show a brief stage program was held. Jovita Pereira, MCA Cultural Secretary welcomed the guests on the dias and introduced them to the audiences. Captain Ramanan Ravi Kumar - Defense Attaché from Indian Embassy was the chief guest. Other dignitaries who were on the Dias were MCA President Arthur Pais, Vice President Aloysius D’Souza, MCA advisory committee members Jerry Pinto, Felix Lobo, Joachim D’Souza and Wilfred Fernandes.
 
MCA President Arthur Pias welcomed the guests and the gathering. He briefed on the activities and the objectives of MCA. On this occasion MCA conferred Joseph Crasta for his outstanding selfless service through his Snehalaya Charitable Trust Mangalore Orphanage Home for the Abandoned with “MCA Seva Puraskar 2015” award and felicitated him with shawl, flowers, fruits, momento, maan patr and a cheque for Rs 1,00,000.

Konkani Kavitha contest 2015 winners were given cash awards. They were called upon the dias by Veena Rebimbus Pais read out their names. Gladson Almeida (first place), Vivek Monteiro and Sandip Noronha (both second place), Jyothi D’Souza and Prabha Rego (both third place) were given cash awards. Consolation prizes were given to all the participants Rinku Saldanha, Nevil Fernandes, Savio Mangalore, Alphonse D’Silva, Navin Dalmeida and Della A. Rego. Veena Rebimbus Pais thanked the judges of the Kavitha competition Cyril G. Sequeira (CGS Taccode), Edward Sequeira (Eddie Siker) and Henry Mendonca (H.M. Pernal).
During stage programe  which the MCA souvenir was released by chief guest Captain Ramanan Ravi Kumar.

In his speech the chief guest Captain Ramanan Ravi Kumar appreciated the initiative taken by Mangalore Cultural Association in honouring those rendering services to the community. He spoke about Konkani music that has been melodious and the entertainment in this show.
 
The MCA President: Arthur Pais with office bearers and committee members along with volunteers had worked hard and put up a great show.
The success was evident from the audience as they highly appreciated the wonderful arrangement and great entertainment with musical, dance and comedy. The entire program was very well organized with continuous non-stop entertainment. The entry to the program was free through passes. Between the program sandwiches and mineral water was served to refresh the audiences.
 
Vice President Aloysius D’Souza proposed vote of thanks. He thanked each and every one who contributed for this program in different ways and also the sponsors, singers and audiences as well. He called upon the entire committee member on the Dias as a token of appreciation for making this event a successful one. The wonderful program concluded with group song by the Rebimbus family and the GVOM stars.
