Udupi : The opposition BJP councillors of Udupi City Municipal council started with noisy and disruption at the Municipal meeting here on Monday, 29^th February, 2016 at Sathyamurthi  meeting Hall.

The chaos began against the proposed revision of business license fee by the CMC and opposition members tore off the agenda supplementary papers in regard to the protest against revision of the license fee.

Dr. M. R. Pai opposition leader of the council said that the trade license fee revision draft not discussed in the councilors meeting. He read out the High Court judgment in regard to the revision of license fees. Then CMC Commissioner Manjunathayya said that the revision of the said fee never effects the people and it will be determined on the basis of the establishment.

The President of CMC Yuvaraj P informed the BJP Councilors that a special meeting was conducted for the purpose which opposition members of BJP not attended.

Dinakar Shetty Herga BJP Councilor said that Congress had promised that it would not hike taxes on the people, but now Congress trying to hike fees which will be affecting common people. Then Yuvaraj said that BJP trying to gets publicity holding such not needed protests. BJP has been trying to get publicity with the issue. Celine Karkada argued that BJP during election manifesto told that BJP will deposit Rs. 15 lakhs to the account of every citizen of the country.

The interruption ended with the statement by the CMC commissioner that the revision draft of the licensing fee  will be published in newspapers for public objections if any, the gazette notification will be sent for approval to the state government for approval.

The members raised that there was no stadium in Udupi. The place reserved for stadium has been used to Bayalu Ranga Mandira at a cost of Rs. 3.5 lakhs. But they charge Rs. 18,000 for the function will goes to DC. The remaining land has been given to Officer’s Club which cannot used for the sports purpose, said Yashpal Suvarna of BJP. The meeting decided to send memorandum to local MLA Pramod Madwaraj who is also the parliamentary secretary. The opposition members objecting the ruling party of increasing the number of petty traders in the city by issuing licenses to them.

Almost all the BJP councilors were present during the meeting rather several ruling members not attended the meeting.
