Print II PU new syllabus chemistry question paper leaked, exam cancelled
In a blow to 1.74 lakh students who wrote the II Pre-University (PU) Chemistry examination across the State on Monday, the Department of PU Education (DPUE) cancelled the exam after it came to light that the question papers had been leaked. The date for the re-examination is yet to be decided.
DPUE Director Pallavi Akurathi told The Hindu that the PU helpline first received a call at around 7.30 a.m. from a student in Bengaluru, who sought anonymity, informing PU officials about question papers being circulated to them before the exam. The DPUE then conducted an inquiry, after which a report was submitted to the State government, which ordered the cancellation of the exam and directed the department to conducte a re-exam.
The department has suspended the Chief Superintendents and Joint Superintendents of exam centres at SASM PU College for Women, Ballari and Government PU College, Malur with immediate effect. The DPUE is also expected to file a police complaint soon.
This is the second time in five years that question papers have been leaked in the crucial II PU final exams in the State.
