Ln Gudrun Yngvadottir International 2nd Vice President visits Mumbai.

Mumbai, July 22. 2016: The first lady to be crowned as 2nd International Vice President of Lions International Ln Gurdrun Yngvadottir from Iceland visited Mumbai, India for a two day visit from 20th July, 2016. On day first a interaction session with 7 ladies who got selected from 83 lions and 26 lioness clubs. Ln Mala Shetty, Ln JyotiNarvekar, Ln Ujwala Khobrekar, Ln Sangeeta Kasliwal, Ln Chhaya  Dusane, Ln Arvinder Sandhu, along with Ln Kawal Rekhi from District 323 A2 were among the few present during the interaction session.

According to Ln Subhash Bhalwal, District Governor 323 A2, Godrun who recently got elected as 2nd Vice President was from a small city called Gardabaer in Iceland. Grown taking part in ladies groups, lioness club and then went to become lion and always kept the ladies active in her club.

Being travelled to all most all countries in the world Godrun feels that the status of women is different in each country. Europe and USA are more technically savvy with Wi-Fi and mobiles on their fingertips and in India we need to update women and computer related updates are need of the hour for youth too. Lack of awareness programmes related to adolescence like Lions Quest or bad effect of drugs and smoking.

Lions image building Umbrella project was admired by all members from 210 countries from all over the world recently at the 99th Lions Internation Convention held at Japan. In Indian itself there is demand for 100000 Vendor Umbrellas which will be donated to hawkers and vendors on the streets of India, says Ln Hanuman Aggarwal, 1st VDG.

Gudrum a motivational Speaker, an Icelandic Lion, Ln Gudrun, kept the crowd captivated through her 5 minutes of speech as she spoke very well, covering the various areas of noble work to be done for needy in the society. She said she wanted to meet Women from our constitutional areas as each come from different cultural background from their own country, and how to improve our Institution as more and more women should come forward to become Leaders in the World’s biggest NGO Lions Club International which is on way to complete 100 years.

Her motto is to increase women members from 30% to 50%, and SPECIALLY MOTHER CARE, and serve for betterment of women, their family, and women’s wellness & health in turn. In Mumbai our Members coordinated an event, as they trained many young girls from slum area to drive so that they can autos after 5 months of motivating and coaching and funding their fees. Also, tailoring classes for women in rural areas. Crores of rupees worth Projects were done, signing of MOU for Medical & Diagnostic centres were done by Alibag, Lions club of Thane North Lions club of lake side etc. List of Items for 1 disabled children staying for Life time – at God’s Abode – Life care with dignity by MBA foundation worth Rs.1.25 lacs, Roofing Panel for Trombay Public school cost Rs.7 lacs and many Lions and Leo clubs were also Inaugurated.
