Qatar, September 5: Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi diocese, will be in Qatar for Konkani Community’s Monti Fest celebrations this year. He will be the main celebrant at Our Lady Of Rosary Church, Doha Qatar on Thursday, September 8 at 7 Pm for the Monti Fest Mass.
The celebrations will begin with blessing of the new corn (novem) at 7.00 pm followed by solemn feast Mass in Konkani at Our Lady Of Rosary Church after the mass floral offerings by children to Infant Mary in front grotto. After mass feast lunch at Our Lady of Arabia hall. Jerald Leena D Mello and family was the ‘pirjent’ for the Monthi Fest 2016.

The 9 days of Novena with Mass in preparation for the feast already begin on Tuesday, August 30 conducted by visiting priest Fr Pius James D’Souza Episcopal Vicar for Religious Mangalore Diocesetook the devotees on a spiritual journey during all nine days with his powerful and touching reflections on the Word of God.

About Fr Pius James D’Souza OCD.

Fr Pius James D’Souza is a Carmelite priest hailing from Agrar (now Farla) parish. Having completed his Master’s degree in Philosophy in the Karnataka University, Dharwad, he acquired his Masters in English Literature from the Mysore University. Later he was sent to Rome for biblical studies. He has a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome and his PhD in Biblical Theology from the Gregorian University Rome. Presently, he is the Superior of the Carmelites at St Joseph’s Monastery – Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore and also teaches Sacred Scripture in many Seminaries, including St Joseph’s Seminary at Jeppu, Mangalore.

Konkani Speaking Community at Our Lady of Rosary Church-Doha in preparation for the monthi fest Konkani speaking committee organized coloring the mother Mary’s image for the children on Friday 2nd September after 7 Am Konkani mass.

KSC committee member Sunil D Silva introduced Fr Pius James D’Souza as well as Judges Nerry Alfonso and Raina Pinto. A good number of children participates and winners will receive their prizes on 8th feast day by the bishop. Gracy Danthy compered the program. KSC president Vivian Dsouza proposed vote of thanks. The program concluded with breakfast.
