Santhekatte: Nuns visit Spandana at Nejar and entertain the inmates.

Santhekatte, Sep 25, 2016: As part of community service Nuns from 5 Different Congregation visited Spandana Home for the special children at Spandana the special school, a unit of Chaitanya Charitable Trust in Santhekatte Nejar.in Kallianpura Grama Panchayat.
The principal of the institute Mr Umesh Nakoor welcomed the members of the visiting team in the presence of Mr. Janardhan. The members sang songs, danced and entertained the inmates. The inmates also exhibited their talents through songs, dance, memory games etc. The members distributed the snacks donated by Valerian Fernandes, President, Catholic Sabha, Diocese of Udupi.

The team who visited the inmates are:

Sr Marie Jane, Carmel Nivas, Gopalpura, Mount Rosary.
Sr Benignus BS, Maria kripa convent, Ozanam home for the aged Kallianpura.

Love can be a hard concept to understand, even more so, when you want to love a person with a mental illness, said one of the sister after meeting the inmates.

Many organizations such as Lion’s, Rotary and Jaycee’s provide them with materials of need. Some temples of the area supply them with groceries . Some organizations such as Catholic Sabha, Church wards and social workers  visit them as a good deed and extend help. Anybody wants to lend a helping hand to this centre can co ordinate directly with the centre

Spandana, Training Rehabilitation centre for Mentally Challenged Persons is located at Nejar/Udupi (Santhekatte/Kemmannu Road).
