Manipal : Present situation in the district becomes deteriorated due to unavailability of the sand and labourers working in the sand mining today and no Cooli or labour jobs since six to seven months. It is the tragedy of the district, said Kota Srinivas Poojary MLC and former District in charge Minister.

On his keynote address during the protest held in front of DC Office here against the total failure of the state congress government which was organized by Backward Class Morcha of Bharathiya Janata Party on Tuesday, 25^th October, 2016.

He said the entire major developmental, construction and other works halted since seven months. The life of poor Cooli labourers in difficulty. The district administration and the government failed to solve the problem of sand mining. Udupi district facing the sand mining complications, delay in distributing rights for the land, law and order situation, administrative failure, irresponsible to distribution of various benefit schemes of the government and other issues the government totally failed to deliver the good governance.

When BJP past government provided 200 homes in every grama panchayats, presents congress government not able to provide 10 houses to poor. Those who avail the land are unable to construct the house due to non availability of sand. Under the Congress rule in the state, due to the sand mining problem, poor cooli labourers looking for suicide. Umesh Marakala of Sasthan committed suicide due to the sand mining problems which deceased not able to earn the income, he said.

The problem of distributing letter of rights still prevailed. In Udupi district under 94C and 94CC projects more than 16000 applications submitted and around 1000 applications under scrutiny and get sanctioned. In Karkala taluk 6374 applications received and sanctioned only 162. In Udupi taluk 3349 applications received and sanctioned 300. In Kundapura taluk 6312 applications received and sanctioned only 438 applications. Out of 16000 applications in the district only 1000 applications were sanctioned. The poor people have no place in the congress ruled state government. The labourers are jobless and hence going for suicide due to very difficult to manage their life, he said.

He warned the district administration and the government that within three days the sand problem not solved the BJP Backward community will involve the sand mining for the poor people.

B. G. Puttaswamy MLC and BJP leader also spoke during the protest and said that during BJP rule in the state, the government introduced various programmes especially for the backward class people and the congress government failed to provide good governance as well as law and order situation in the state. In coastal district the sand availability is natural. The district administration failed to solve the sand mining problems which created by local MLA and Minister in charge Pramod Madhwaraj. Siddaramaiha government is in favour of rich people rather poor people and the needy. We should condemn the styles of functioning of the state government especially various anti poor policies.

Mattar Rathnakar Hegde district BJP Committee President and Raghupathy Bhat also spoke during the present. Both condemned the policies of the district in charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj for his irresponsibility of the sand mining issues. Dr. V. S. Acharya supported the poor when the sand mining issue. Government can do the business in solving the sand mining case. It is due to Pramod Madhwaraj the said problem occurred because he is in favour of rich builders rather poor people. They condemned the recent statements of Pramod Madhwaraj on Valmiki and other religious issues. They also condemned the Pramod Madhwaraj on establishing the women government hospital in Udupi under private role. As per the election manifesto Madhwaraj failed to provide well established hospital in the district.

Later protestors met Additional DC Anuradha in the absence of DC and submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner.

Lalaji Mendon former MLA, Gitanjali Suvarna ZP member, Shilpa Suvarna, Dinakar Babu ZP President, Katapadi Srinivas Poojary, Sandhya Ramesh, Rajesh Kaveri President of Backward BJP Morcha, Santhosh Jathan and other BJP leaders were present during the protest.
